They will have a difficult time convincing all of us currently suffering in sub-freezing weather that this is reality!

An NOAA image of global surface temperatures The independent report, by the Institute for Public Policy Research in Britain, the Center for American Progress in the United States and The Australia Institute, is timed to coincide with Blair's commitment to advance international climate change policy during Britain's G-8 presidency. Byers said it was vital Blair secured U.S. cooperation in tackling climate change. U.S. President George W. Bush has rejected the Kyoto accord, arguing that the carbon emission cuts it demands would damage the U.S. economy. "What we have got to do then is get the Americans as part of the G-8 to engage in international concerted effort to tackle global warming," said Byers. "If they refuse to do that then other countries will be reluctant to take any steps."

If the liberal media would simply report news and the rest of the time simply keep thier mouth shut, scientists have predicted that would affect earth average mean temperature by 3 degrees, thereby assuring the salvation of the planet!
Hey this theory is no more whacky than what they come out with?

I think I am right in saying that the actual hard data does not support scenarios as described in this report.

What does support it are computer models that attempt to project what the data will be in the future. I believe the models are making these projections based on a lot of speculation designed to support the theories of their authors. In other words, I don't think the models are any good, as used.

The Europeans might as well sacrifice a virgin to the global warming god for all the good Kyoto would do.

Am I wrong in remembering that India and China are exempt from the emissions standards in the Kyoto Treaty?

Can anyone answer this?

These "experts" claim that global warming will cause crop failure? I know this is a rhetorical question, but do they really think people are this stupid? By definition, global warming is the retention of heat due to increased carbon dioxide in the atmosphere. Just what, precisely, do these "experts" think plant live off of?

It's amazing how Michael Crichton predicted almost EXACTLY this wording and this scenario in "State of Fear."

These same people said we would reach the "point of no return" twenty years ago.

I find it ironic that this story would break while the Northeast is enduring some of the most frigid temperatures it has had in years. I also note that out here in the great big desert, we had a bumper year for rainfall, exceding the average for the first time in years.

Note "climate change" is the new term. I guess they don't want we the thinking people to have any more fun beating them about for speaking of a "second ice age" back in the 1970s, then talking about "global warming" today. It would be terribly embarassing to have them talking about another ice age next decade, wouldn't it?

The task force of senior politicians, scientists and business figures was established in March 2004. Its chief scientific adviser is Dr. Rajendra K. Pachauri, chairman of the U.N.'s Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change.

The report should already be suspect with these clowns in charge.
