I have to give Diane Feinstein (D Ca) credit for sounding like a reasonable human being who cares about her country on this. She went on the talk shows this morning and really backed Condi up, because she said the Senate shouldn't do anything to diminish Dr. Rice's credibility to the world. At least there's one Dem who seems to have some common sense and some love of country and is abile put its best interests ahead of her party's.
Thanks it seems such a strange system to me as in the UK the Prime Minister announces a new cabinet minister and that is that. I suppose one of the differences is that they are an elected official already (although you can have someone who is from the House of Lords such as Lord Young in a previous Tory Administration) and therefore have been vetted by their own local party before they were even nominated as the candidate.
