A day in the life of President Bush (1/23/05) photos

The first family attended church this morning. Afterwards, the President headed to Camp David where he was to meet with his advisors to work on his State of the Union Address.

QUOTE OF THE DAY: At this second gathering, our duties are defined not by the words I use, but by the history we have seen together. For a half century, America defended our own freedom by standing watch on distant borders. After the shipwreck of communism came years of relative quiet, years of repose, years of sabbatical - and then there came a day of fire.

Some, I know, have questioned the global appeal of liberty - though this time in history, four decades defined by the swiftest advance of freedom ever seen, is an odd time for doubt. Americans, of all people, should never be surprised by the power of our ideals. Eventually, the call of freedom comes to every mind and every soul. We do not accept the existence of permanent tyranny because we do not accept the possibility of permanent slavery. Liberty will come to those who love it.

President George W. Bush, 2nd Inaugural Address, January 20, 2005

We have raced them but with dad's health and mum deteriorating we have not for a couple of years but we have some very good stock complete with pedigrees, I shall soon have to start putting rings on babies and making notes re pedigrees.

I have emailed you 3 pictures.

I don't think you would like my house. Parrots rule the roost here. It gets pretty hilarious when they all start talking.

Check out this picture, all of you. This is Boston, today. Makes me colder just looking at it. Thank God we're not experiencing that here.

I have gotten a little tired of news, esp. after the election. I just have to have the TV on all the time--unless I'm listening to Rush! I check in at the top of each hour for Breaking News, but lately have been watching the "judge" shows--Judge Mathis, Judge Judy (and laughing at all the losers on them!!) and reruns of Judging Amy and things like that.

I couldn't watch Boxer beat up on Condi, tho Condi definitely got the best of her. I wish Condi herself would have gotten up and slugged her. But I know Condi bugged the rest of them MUCH, MUCH more than they bugged her. :-)

No, I probably would have nightmares! Sounds like you enjoy it tho. Did you teach them to talk? I always wondered how one went about teaching a parrot to talk.

Hi, Pol. Did you see that I included a photo of the First Lady's cat today? You can tell your cat that we don't neglect his cousins here. It's just that the dogs get more press, LOL!

It is very exciting that the Iraqis are registering to vote all over the world. Of course, our media keeps wringing its collective hands (hoping in their heart of hearts that the election will go badly). But it's thrilling to watch a new democracy struggle to be born in a part of the world that has only known tyranny.

RE: Iraquis voting--that is very cool. Do you know any personally? I have a friend who works with some people from Iraq, and he said there WERE WMD's and the stories of torture are unbelievable. WE DID THE RIGHT THING!

Well, not everything is sunny here in Southern California. Boxer is our senator. Everytime she opens her mouth, she sends a big, noxious cloud out to block the sun. Yuck!

I just hope and pray that the Iraqi election go off without to much loss of life and that they are as fair as they can be in the circumstances.

If it all goes well it will be a great birthday present for Dick Cheney and a great memory on each subsequent one for him.

They kind of pick up things to say that sound interesting to them, like little kids do. Charlie, an African Grey parrot makes all sorts of bodily function noises (mainly taught to them by my nieces who think belching is hilarious). Another Grey parrot, Cotton decided she liked all the awful John Kerry ads (yes they watch TV sometimes). She constantly asks "Wheres John Kerry?" I have all sorts of interesting snswers for her LOL

I'm sorry you have Boxer; I was embarassed about Bob Kerry being from NE (I still am) but Boxer is even worse. But DAschle got voted out, so maybe she will too next time.

I have a friend from Iraq.
Her family had to escape from the country after 1991 to save their lives.
She hated nothing so much in this world as Saddam Hussein and didn't care who knew it.
