-1 here on the shoreline of Southeastern CT. Last night our local weather dude, Jeff Fox, predicted 24-30 inches with the possibility of thunderstorms. He referred to it as a snow hurricane with winds over 60 miles an hour. Preparations underway here.

We're getting blasted here in S.E. Michigan and their prediction is about 6 - 8 inches. At the rate it is coming down, I suspect much more.

What makes it worse is that the temperature is only 9 degrees which means that the salt trucks on the highways will have little effect.

Was going to drive down to Cabelas in Dundee today(75 miles away) to pick up a pistol I had ordered but anticipating this storm, I took yesterday afternoon off and did it. Smart move on my part.

Fortunately today is Saturday, I don't have to go anywhere until work on Monday, got food in the fridge, wine on the counter and gin on my bar. Let it snow, let it snow, let it snow. Time for a nap........

I'm sitting in my den with the sun streaming in the Bay Window in front of me. It's so bright I have to have the curtain pulled to be able to see the computer screen. As I glance over to the thermometer I see it has warmed up a little as it always does around noon when the sun is at its peak. The temperature is now gotten up to -04 degrees so that is a real heat wave compared to the -15 degrees which greeted me when I arose at 0500 this AM. We are really too far north to be expecting much snow from this one but it may surprise us. So far we only have about two feet on the ground and the weatherman says this one is going out to sea before it gets here. Don't matter much to me as I den up in winter much like all the old black bears which Maine is famous for. Just look half way up the coast of Maine directly across from Rockland but to the west of Bar Harbor and you sill see the little town of Brooklin sitting by its lonesome on the end of a peninsula into Penobscot Bay. Route one and most traffic passes us by on the way to Ellsworth and Acadia Park and we like it that way. I really get in trouble from my friends when I let people from away find out that there is life down on this point of land. The secret is bound to get out sooner or later so I do not really feel guilty. I will keep all of you out there in computer land informed if the blizzard hits up this way. Time for my nap.

Glad I don't have to put up with all the snow today!!

If it makes y'all feel any better, temp here is 54 and I went outside in shorts and tee-shirt to take this (and other) pictures just moments ago.

Please don't hate me! :)

Checkin' in from Cape Cod. Started about 4:30 pm yesterday in the form of light snow showers and by 8:00pm it was coming down sideways. Right now temp is 28 degrees and it's blowing so hard that it is impossible to tell if it's snowing or just blowing. They say we have between 15 and 22" so far here on the Cape and it's supposed to continue through the entire day and into tonight not ending until tomorrow morning sometime.

I'm 62 years old and lived in the northeast my entire life and have never seen anything like this. I only barely remember the blizzard of 1948 (maybe 1947) when we had about 36" of snow.

My German Shepherd who loves the snow and can't wait to roll around in it and put her nose down and just run, she looks like a plow. Anyway I opened the garage door this a.m. to let her out and she put her ears down and didn't know quite what to do. I had to go out with her to get her leave the garage.
