This is stupid. If the objection to evolution concerns lack of evidence, how is intelligent design any better? At least evolution has the fossil record to back its claims; ID has nothing.
"Things are so complex, only an invisible sky-god could have made them." Some theory!
Sorry boss. Its the fossil record that is undermining the theory.
Neither evolution nor intelligent design should be taught as iron clad fact. In my church they teach that humans and animals have only been around for about 5000 years, yet we know through science that is not possible. On the other hand evolution has it's problems too....ever met a blue eyed ape? Ever seen one turn into a human? Ever seen a half human half ape?
I agree. It's an attempt to mix science and religion and the result is both are diminished.
Obviously the editorialist has the same opinion as you. ID is about complexity and information in space-time, things 150 years of evolution have yet to explain or deal with.
And, the appropriate question in a science setting, is where did the sky god come from? ID does not answer the question of origins, merely adds an untested, unobservable and superstitious layer to question of where we came from. If we were designed, then where did the designer come from? Our origins would ultimately coem from how a designer came into existence. There is no place for this in science. If the Merican people want our science to be distilled down to "God did it" then this country will become an ignorant part of the third world. We will need more H1B visas to import the scientists, doctors and engineers that make this country technologically strong so the local population can stay dumb and ignorant of how the physical world works. Sounds like it would be like Saudi Arabia.
The theory of Intelligent Design does NOT ignore the fossil record, but posits that these changes have been planned rather than random.
The liberals believe that creatures evolved merely by random chance. Some theory!
Well, we've taught evolution for years and years....
"Things are so complex, only an invisible sky-god preexistent chemicals and energy could have made them." Some theory!
>>"Things are so complex, only an invisible sky-god could have made them." Some theory!<<
But what if it is, in fact, the truth?
" ID has nothing. "
ID has an old book, written when the earth was thought to be flat and when thunder and lightning were thought to be God's judgement.
And to IDers, there's absolutely nothing incorrect about anything found in this book.

Well it keeps options open. If we as a nation are supposed to be mostly Christian and belive in God, and we are "ONE NATION UNDER GOD", then why wouldn't be leave the door open to discuss whether or not the universe was created by intelligent design? Why wouldn't we be open to that? It's not promoting a religion, it's asking you to think differently about where we come from.
