The upside is that there are tourists returning to the beaches and people who who think it's ok to waste resources moving Thailand dolphins a week after the tragedy.

Ugh, then who in the universe did I tick off to get Boxer and Feinstein as senators?
I repeat, PEOPLE get the government they deserve. The reason you have the dynamic duo in California is that NOT ENOUGH people in California have dedicated enough time and resources to remove them.

I agree. I too spent several years in Indonesia and am familiar with Aceh in particular. The populous parts are all situated in the low lying coastal plains and this fact, coupled with the very flimsy construction and severe overcrowding of what are, in effect, shanty towns, leads me to believe the toll is very large - Larger even than what is now being reported.
The Gov't is completely corrupt and severely represses the population - Hence the concern that outside influences might take hold during the aid efforts. The longer these take, or are allowed to continue, the more outside influence will be possible and the more the people will see just how repressive and ineffectual the Gov't is in meeting the needs of the survivors.

I predict the end of conservatives in the GOP if you people keep electing moderates and RINOS. Smile at that.

Aceh province is where the terrorists operate. The gov't of Indonesia doesn't want aid workers in the way when they resume anti-terror operations.

Excuse me, but what leader are you calling an idiot?

Someone posted about a week a go, that a buddy of his on the Abraham Lincoln told him that they were being shot at while trying to deliver aid. Now, we hear Indonesia say, get out by March, just hand over the stuff. Ya know, how STUPID do you have to be to stay where you're not wanted? Aid and cash can be better spent elsewhere, and not tossed down the crapper. I'm sure the government cronies will find a way to seize the aid goods for themselves and resell it to their little Muslim terrorist d*ckwads. As for cash.... fuggettaboutit!! Cash to Muslims in this case will go DIRECTLY for ill purpose.. no doubt about it.

I might remind you that its the judges that run this state. Overturning the will of the people at least 5 times. So, NO we don't deserve the a**wipes we have thanks to the corruption in this flippen state.

I am not blaming bush for the Cole bombing,... Well! How BIG of you ...Clinton was the POTUS when the Cole was bombed.
You seem so dissatisfied with Republicans and President Bush maybe DU would be a better forum for your whining, imo.

I caught the tail end of the report, but I think the FOX reporter said "210,000 dead in Indonesia, 272,000 in the region". And to think we also lucked out, too. If the earthquake had just happened two hours later the total death toll could have been triple what we have now because there would have been a lot more people on the beaches in the countries affected.
By the way, given DigitalGlobe's Quickbird images of Banda Aceh and its complete devastation I'm not surprised that the death toll on Sumatra may reach 210,000.

I predict the end of conservatives in the GOP if you people keep electing moderates and RINOS. Smile at that. lol -are you suggesting the dodo bird was legitimate to argue indignantly and deny it's eminent extinction by absurd transference?
Neutered liberals are in disarray -they need to grasp and understand the cold reality -they are no longer relevant, no longer party to debate, no longer requiring of acknowledgment... It no longer matters how right liberals are or think they are... They are on the verge of extinction!
And you predict the end of conservatives????

I don't think so - I have seen the Satellite photos - not pretty and they real number of dead from reputable ministries are outnumbering the "official number" at the present time...

Considering the actual population of Indonesia and the fact that the video by the wedding photographer that showed the twenty foot surge pushing everything in front of it was taken over three miles from the coast, which would mean that everyone within that three mile band was killed, I don't find it hard to believe this number.

I've heard this crap before.
Perhaps you think you're in the democRAT party where nobody can question the leadership qualities of their higher ups.
As for me, I'd rather question then follow blindly. I stand for the Constitution of the United States, not for a single man who just happens to call himself a republican.
I know Bubba was the president at the time of the Cole. That's what happens when you come into a conversation half way, you miss what was said earlier.

Something tells me the Governments over there are upping the casuality rate to get more money...We'll know if the other countries keep upping the latest Indonesian bid.

No, what I am predicting is the conservatives will leave the GOP. Where do you think the liberals are thriving right now? WITHIN THE GOP! Look at all the RINOs being trumpeted as potential GOP presidential candidates!
You have to go to Zell Miller to get a conservative view during the GOP convention.
Liberals are not gone yet, they have stealth-fully achieved positions of power within the GOP. Tell me conservatives win when people like Ahnold and Guliani are in positions of power?
