I used to listen to him when he first got on the music scene. His latest stuff seems to be more southern rock type. What say you wd? I assume he'd not use his raunchy material at the inaugural. Not okay with dirty lyrics but a lot of people don't seem to mind. He has a large following. Personally, I've been listening to more classical music. I was listening to a lot of Lynyrd Skynrd recently.

Caught myself singing, along with "Sweet Home Alabama" a few weeks ago. I caught myself replacing "Watergate does not bother me" with "Abu Ghraib does not bother me."

Cyborg,

I agree with you, but being somewhat a musician and lyricist myself I find the dichotomy in his lyrics refreshing. The soul and morality of allot of his songs ring to the true nature of man, our own inner personal battle between good vs. evil, and sometimes the good side doesn't always win but the struggle continues. As for his support of our troops and his love for our country he ranks up there in my book!

Cyborg -

since you mention lynryd skynrd, have you heard any of the Drive by Truckers?

I think it's like the Outlaws (Green grass and high tides forever, remember them?) and Lynryd skynrd.

Check out Decoration Day. Pretty fine stuff.

I think he should have been asked to play something innocuous and he would have complied I'm sure. His ballads are nice to me anyhow.

He has stood up for the troops and the President and deserves better.

This is a rare occasion where I break with my culture war conservative brethren. They seem just as sanctimonious over this as some social lib freepers with whom I spar constantly do over culture issues....and that is a shame.

I mean let's get real.

Is ZZ TOP (big pro-gun Bushmen) gonna play TubeSnake Boogie or Pearl Necklace?

Or would my dear Uncle Ted play Cat Scratch Fever or Wang Dang Sweet P**ntang if asked not to?

Kid deserves to be there. I loathe hip-hop but I own Cowboy...I confess...and I like it...BullGod and that piano number too.

...so shoot me.
