No Kid Rock at Bush concert
Committee backs off plan to feature rapper after pro-family Americans express outrage

Kid Rock, the vulgar rock-rapper who initially had been lined up to headline the youth concert next week as part of the inauguration festivities for President Bush, will not be apppearing after all.

"He's not performing," a spokesman for the Presidential Inauguration Committee confirmed for WND.

No further information about the cancellation of Kid Rock was available at press time.

Word that the rapper will not join JoJo and Hilary Duff as performers at the Jan. 18 concert, which will be hosted by Bush twins Barbara and Jenna, comes after WorldNetDaily and other outlets publicized the fact that the committee was planning to feature Kid Rock, which caused several pro-family organizations to ask their supporters to protest his appearance.

"What's the 'Holier-Than-Thou' ping list?"

Answer: The FR 'ROAD-KILL' Goon Squad.

"(and do I want to be on it?)"

Not if you value your integrity and self-respect.

It's not about being self-righteous. It's about being in line with what the Bible says.

There's nothing wrong with looking at an issue and saying, "I think that's right/wrong based on God's Word." In fact, as Christians we're supposed to be doing that. The most interesting discussions are about concepts, not people. I think that's the case on this thread as well as the other one on divorce.

It's not his position on abortion we have a problem with."

The troll or early poster (whichever) on this thread did have a problem with it. Said his music would up the teen pg rate and therefore up abortions.

Said troll has evaporated from thread.

Indeed. Is forming ping lists to mock Christians very forgiving?

So even the troll's problem was with the music, not KR's views on abortion.

Ah the straw men come out.

I suppose you also roundly condemn Mike Moran?

Why not invite him to your house for dinner?

If he would come I would be glad to have him

Introduce him to your daughter and send them on a date.

As my daughter is still playing with the angels that might be a little hard.

Are Christians ganging up on other Christians who happen not to believe exactly as they do very loving?

Yes, apparently, a lot of us are unable or unwilling to decide what is appropriate and must be told whether or not it is. If it is, it must be banned!!

Forget about not attending...that's just too easy. It doesn't let people know that we find it offensive. I guess politicians are too dumb to figure out that when there isn't an audience, that maybe something didn't go over too well, and adjust their approach accordingly.

Actually, to be fair, I think they just might be too dumb to figure it out. :)

"There is no issue with a Christian judging right and wrong or identifying sin as long as it is a judgment based upon the ruling already made by the Almighty."

There is, if the interpretation of the Almightys, is not what He was intending to say.

I believe that is a bit of a stretch, and not very nice either.

And exactly the attitude that created the tongue-in-cheek idea ofo the list.

You said not letting him perform would be putting a stumbling block in front of him. Are we only to bring people to Christ by zipping our lips as to what He taught? Should we hope this possible convert does not discover our true righteous beliefs lest he be offended?

Why are we obligated to associate ourselves with him and what else are we required to do to save Kid Rock's soul? Surely setting our own moral judgments aside for one concert is not enough to bring this man into the fold! How else might we supplicate ourselves?

So, now I have to sit there and make sure every word of his performance will be acceptable? No thanks. There are plenty of performers that understand what is and what is not appropriate for the occasion - I would just suggest we use those performers for this event.

Seems to me the responsibility is on the back of the performer. If a performer wishes to be invited to presidential events, he might find it behooves him to show that he puts on entertainment that would be acceptable to all attendees. If he is not considered acceptable for any reason, it is the fault of the entertainer, not the event coordinators. Afterall, their job is to provide super events - not public relations nightmares.

Now - enough of your cast the first stone nonsense. You are ducking the issue of respect, dignity, responsibility and trust between entertainer and purpose of the event.

There is no reason at all that President Bush should be placed in the position of being embarrassed, chastised, demeaned by the choice of an entertainer for his inauguration.

My characterization a FR 'Road-Kill' Goon Squad is pretty much spot on.

Btw, I watched 'Mad Max' with Mel Gibson the other night -- the chase scenes reminded me of the "action" on a few choice FR threads.
