No Kid Rock at Bush concert
Committee backs off plan to feature rapper after pro-family Americans express outrage

Kid Rock, the vulgar rock-rapper who initially had been lined up to headline the youth concert next week as part of the inauguration festivities for President Bush, will not be apppearing after all.

"He's not performing," a spokesman for the Presidential Inauguration Committee confirmed for WND.

No further information about the cancellation of Kid Rock was available at press time.

Word that the rapper will not join JoJo and Hilary Duff as performers at the Jan. 18 concert, which will be hosted by Bush twins Barbara and Jenna, comes after WorldNetDaily and other outlets publicized the fact that the committee was planning to feature Kid Rock, which caused several pro-family organizations to ask their supporters to protest his appearance.

You know what I think? I think this was an entire story manufactured by WND.

I believe you are right! I haven't seen it anywhere else myself.

Another example of the "lame-wing" of the conservative movement ruining everyone's fun. Don't you people have video games to take away or something?

"I don't see what the big deal is - especially if the Bush Twins requested he perform."

Oh gee, in THAT case...Might a Roman Empire-style 'Victory Procession' complete with trumpeteers, elephants, charioteers, and tossed rose petals suffice instead?

Cyborg -

since you mention lynryd skynrd, have you heard any of the Drive by Truckers?

I think it's like the Outlaws (Green grass and high tides forever, remember them?) and Lynryd skynrd.

Check out Decoration Day. Pretty fine stuff.

He also makes fun of Laura Bush in one of his songs.

Which song?

No, relieved that sanity prevailed.

"Kid Rock music may or may not be ok for private consumption, but not acceptable for Inaugural events for the Republican party."

Damn shame if his music isn't "acceptable" for the Republican party. The sailors of the USS Cole found his music acceptable when they pulled out of the port of Aden in Yemen. They stood at attention on the deck as the Star Spangled Banner was played. Then as the last note of the anthem faded away they cranked the speakers up and blasted, "Cowboy" so all of the terrorist bastards could hear it and know that we are still the biggest dog on block. Something tells me that Kid Rock would probably rather hang with that crowd, I'm sure they'd find him "acceptable".

I will check them out. There's one classic rock station still in existence. They don't play this type of stuff all the time.

That is the kind of life he lives (according to him). So let him sing about it. I have more respect for someone who sings it like it is than for some pre-teen who has a song (written by someone else) thrown in front of her and just sings it because she is marketable and will sell records.

So you'd be cool with Eminem, DMX, Jay-Z, or Ludacris performing at an inaugural concert, since they, too, sing about the kind of life they lead? I don't have a problem with Kid Rock or any of these others singing about their lives, just not under the sponsorship of the president of the United States.

I strongly supported President Bush last election. Now, I'm not no a Kid Rock fan -- I listen to very little, rock, at all, for that matter. But I'm not a social conservative, either. I would like there to be some events at the inauguration that did not remain within social conservative guidelines.

Heck, our nation's tolerance of social liberty/decadence/call-it-what-you-will is one of the things that the Muslim fanatics hate about the U.S. and that President Bush is doing his best to defend.
