Former Clinton White House Mr. Fix-It Bruce Lindsey emerged tight-lipped yesterday after testifying before a federal grand jury probing whether top-secret documents were illegally removed from the National Archives. The grand jury probe, reported exclusively in The Post Tuesday, is digging into why another former Bill Clinton aide, Sandy Berger, sneaked the national security documents out of the Archives possibly in his socks.
Lindsey denied any inside knowledge about Berger's sticky fingers.
"All I know is what he [Berger] said. He made a public statement," said Lindsey, Clinton's deputy White House counsel, after testifying under oath yesterday.
Berger admits walking off with 40 to 50 top-secret documents from the archives, but claims it was an "honest mistake" while vetting documents for the 9/11 commission.
Berger has admitted destroying some documents he says by mistake.
Lindsey declined comment on what he told the grand jury, but denied reports that he met with Berger in New York for crisis control as the scandal erupted last summer.
[snip]
Among the documents Berger lifted were multiple drafts of a report assessing the 2000 millennium threat that is said to conclude that only luck prevented a terrorist attack then.
That conflicts with Berger's sworn testimony to the commission he claimed "we thwarted" millennium attacks by being vigilant, not lucky.

Don't you just wonder...?
Let's see, whatever it was was about 6 feet 4 inches long is my guess. (Just MO.)
From the article:

Berger has admitted destroying some documents he says by mistake.
Can you imagine any one of US doing some cra* like this and using such a lame (and obviously DISHONEST) explanation???
I'd expect a long stay in the Crossbar Hotel.
I hope this jerk sees justice!

LOL.
ok
That made me go hmmmmm, too. Didn't Kerry meet with Haddad? The name is pretty familiar and I'm sure it was in the news just recently.
Abdurahman Alamoudi, who was arrested Sunday after being accused of trying to smuggle $340,000 in cash from Libya to terrorist groups in Syria, worked at the Clinton State Department as a global emissary for religious tolerance.
Somehow this was another story that I had not read before.
Marking.

More speculation on what documents may have been taken (many links):
Executive Order #13166
The guidance had first become effective on January 19, 2001 that is, at the eleventh hour of the Clinton administration. Link
You just observed what was obvious, and asked a question too. The main stream media did neither. That's how.
Last I heard was he pleaded guilty to one charge for time served in 2000. Since, he has filed a civil suit against reporters last year for leaking information about his case which is ongoing I think. I don't know what to make of his case with Janet Reno involved here. He could of been a patsy.

THE DOWNSIDE LEGACY ARCHIVES
Clinton archives.
As a member of the Cox Committee charged with investigating the transfer of high-tech secrets to China during the Clinton administration, in January 1999 Rep. Weldon sent an advance copy of the committee's report to Mr. Berger for his review. After seven months of closed-door, bipartisan hearings with no leaks to the press, the committee of five Republicans and four Democrats had unanimously recommended some three dozen steps that should be taken to protect America's national security.
Within days, however, "Sandy Berger issued a statement to selected members of the media putting the White House spin on what was still a classified document," congressman Weldon recalled. "He did that without asking any member of the committee. Before the CIA director could even read our report, Berger was already spinning. That sets the pattern for what may have occurred" in the Archives case, Rep. Weldon believes.
Been thinking about this all afternoon/evening....Maybe this is a clue.
The plot thickens....
Jamie Gorelick was in charge of deciding which documents to request. I was shocked when I heard one of the commission memebers on a talking head show say that she was so well qualified for this task....talk about the fox guarding the henhouse!
bump for later
You got to hand it to the dems when it comes to wardrobe malfunction.
