Martin Sheen is presenting the best movie drama award, and if the speculation is right, Mel Gibson and his The Passion of the Christ will win.
What movie in the sixties was better? I can't think of a better movie ever.
Act One combines a rigorous curriculum, professional industry mentorships, and a specific vocational spirituality to prepare a new generation of screenwriters for the entertainment industry. Combining mastery of craft with a concern for truth and beauty, these new writers seek to create movies and television that will be balm, invigoration and joy for the human spirit.
The Passion will win the final and m ost important award of the evening NEXT
This supposed documentary got the award for best drama? Who makes up the films in these categories?
If The Passion won, wouldn't that mean we are all wrong about Hollywood? Anyone who thinks The Passion will win anything from these people hasn't been paying attention. Hollywood was the cradle of socialism in this country decades ago, and once people go out there they either know the score and play along, or feel guilty from all the money they're making and see leftism as the balm. That's how the industry is; the awards reflect that even if they're chosen by "the people", the same people who loved the movie voted for it, while the folks who love The Passion don't have time for internet polls.
Stepping off the soap box...
I actually watched it...but failed to see why it was so popular.
I thought it was boring in fact.
no doubt smoore bribed people to vote for him ...either that or (since it was 'people' voting) a bunch from DU probably stuffed the ballot box the way they did all the online polls during the election. Sort of a last hurrah for them.
See my post #10. It is not completely my error. The award announcer said best movie drama. It is actually going to be rewarded last.
LMAO! What in the blazes is up with Johnny Depp's outfit? Bike gloves + beret + horn rimmed glasses + puke green shirt. Yikes...
(For FReepers who might be down right now about Depp and Moore's back to back wins, just remember, they might have their cute little awards, but we got the electon.)
Don't know if I can call The Passion the best movie of the last 40 years. It is up against some pretty stiff competition. My vote goes to The Godfather.
I find it funny that two movies who have nothing in common are consistently compared. It would make more sense if they went for the same audience. Like Troy and Alexander. Of course Troy was way better than Alexander despite not being that great.
"The Passion" WINS!!!!
"What movie in the sixties was better? I can't think of a better movie ever."
You know, you're right. I can't think of any movie better than The Passion of the Christ.
Standing ovation too, which I don't think F911 got.
Don't hate Hollywood yet.....People's Choice is a red-blooded American pick. Golden Globe is international. Hate Hollywood for the Oscars........
I didn't even know there was more than one category and The Passion wasn't competing against F911. Shows how much I pay attention to these things, and shouldn't comment on them!
HAHAHAHAHA! Take that, Moore! Makes his award so much less.
The only thing we can do that would call attention to this is blast the peoples choice awards as being fixed. I for one will write emails to Panteen, cover girl and a couple of the other sponsers as well as news shows..I have to do something...
Glad to see "Passion" won!
Gibson gets the honor he deserves!
