Sen. Barbara Boxer, D-Calif., signed a challenge mounted by House Democrats to Ohio's 20 electoral votes, which put Bush over the top. By law, a challenge signed by members of the House and Senate requires both chambers to meet separately for up to two hours to consider it. Lawmakers are allowed to speak for no more than five minutes each.
I am absolutely sure that Boxer will be the only Democrat signing on it.
It is amazing. I hope that if there are speaches, the GOP tears into the vote fraud and disenfranchisement of minority voters in PA, MN, WS etc. Just for the record.
Otherwise, I trust that the GOP Senators and W Admin will keep Boxer's posing in mind in the future and go after some of her pet projects. Karma needs help sometimes....
I didn't welcome you.
I mis-read your post. And you are right. 5 minutes would never be enough for this idiot. Just can't shut her up!
Any truth to the rumor that Frist is in Sri Lanka?
I guess the three-million plus voters in California who voted for Bush and Boxer just got screwed.
Hmmmmmmmmmmm
There is a obnoxious poster over at DU who is a lawyer from Tennessee, pretty co-incidental if you ask me.
Time to troll monitor
Bush likely won the election by much more than whatever the current margin is given all the fraud from their side that you mentioned.
The bottome line is that the more time they spend cooking up conspiracy theories about the election, the less time they will spend thinking about 2006. Next thing you know we have 60 Senators.
Not really. The previous stories were speculation that she MIGHT do this. Now she's actually done it, seven minutes ago according to the AP link.
So this time it's really Breaking News. Doesn't matter who posts it.
The more, the better.
Americans don't like sore losers, even a lot of Democrats.
This is excellent news for 2006. These maroons can't see that this is going to crush them in '06. Let them keep yammer'n on. Let the American people witness this spectacle. It is unbelievable how out of touch this party is with the American people. Karl Rove must be somewhere doing cartwheels and high five'n. Too funny.
But you can easily stop a filibuster if you get 60 votes in the Senate to stop it, and this is absolutely guaranteed that a least 60 Senators will object to Boxer challenge. In fact all the Senators except Boxer will vote for President Bush.
And don't forget Ohio in 2008. The ads will be running talking about how Dems tried to disenfranchise the entire state. The next Rep will win bigger in Ohio than Bush did this year in Florida!
Thanks, Dems.
My personal opinion is the longer this thing plays out the better for us. The Dims already have a bit of a black eye over filibustering judicial nominees (ie.Daschel) filibustering the acceptance of legally submitted electoral votes could really get Joe Average pi$$ed off. My sense is that not only could it backfire with the American people, but also poisen the well concerning bi-partisan legislative cooperation. With majorities in both house the republicans don't need the Dims, but the Dims NEED some moderate republicans if they expect any say whatsoever
Me too.
But the real laughs are going to be this afternoon, when the airhead actually speaks.
My VCR is going to be running all day here...
