AARP Curses USA's Grandchildren

AARP fails to recognize that Social Security no longer is a good deal for working people today, the children and grandchildren of its members. Instead, they turn to their old liberal mantra saying "Let Them Be TAXED!"

I saw a report on 60 Minutes last night -- yes, that one! -- and AARP doesn't have ANY influence anymore; they hardly even lobby. And, in fact, all they do is make money. I can't find the report right now, but they said that AARP has something like 970 MILLION dollars invested in the stock market. Now, if it's good enough for them, why are they fighting this?

Can anyone give the link to the video of 60 Minutes segment last night on the AARP?

I looked for it, but couldn't find it; I am wondering now if that is what I saw it on, as I was doing other things.

Let me think about it for a while...maybe I can remember.

My dear parents always vote Republican, but unfortunately, as they get older, I see them getting "sucked in" by the "gimme geezers." They are active members of the AARP and have obviously been misinformed on much. Thankfully, my dad has a civil service retirement and insurance plan and did not change over to the Medicare prescription drug plan, but ONLY because he listens to talk radio and regularly keeps up with current events via internet. I know the information they received from AARP about the prescription drug plan did NOT inform them of how much it would cost them as individuals if they switched over and how they would have to give up their current plan completely.

My mother is morally conservative, which is why she votes Republican (wrongly thinking the Republican party TOTALLY supports the same issues dear to her, anti-abortion, etc. but that's another story for another thread).

Anyway, she votes Republican but I swear the woman is a Democrat in so many ways based on comments she makes from time to time. ANY time ANYTHING unpleasant is in the news the first words out of her mouth are "The government should fix that."

I declined to join AARP because of its leftist tendencies. Maybe I should join to protest. I'm a member of United Seniors Organization (the other USO) instead. USO cares about our grandchildren. It's only a couple decades away for them so we need to think now about ways to allow little Sarah (4 1/2) and Juliana (2) to keep more of their own or their husbands' incomes. I don't really want to receive a benefit that trashes their welfare and future or that of the young Freepers out there.

The AARP is a socialist organization and most of the time its members have no idea as to what it does with their dues.

You're right, and most folks miss the point about AARP:

It's run by a bunch of socialist "activists" who have little or no interest in retired folks, but use them as their power base, much like The Reverhun Jyacksuhn uses blacks.

A lobbying group lobbying for its members? Who'd a thunk it?

Got an application and trial membership card on my 16th birthday. Had a bit of fun trying to get senior discounts with it.

The AARP is a socialist organization and most of the time its members have no idea as to what it does with their dues.

One thing the hypocritical AARP does with their dues is invest it in stock market; making ove 60 million last year. They are opposing letting their members invest in safe secure investments because the resulting boost to the economy will benefit a republican.

they may be a commie/socialist organization, but not very smart against the trend of their ideological soulmate regime.... Red China has privatized most of its social security system....

I am a young American and am grateful that somebody is supplying the truth about the evil AARP empire. I feel better knowing there is someone out there fighting for the rights of the present and future generations. I heard of USA NEXT a while back and I have often looked at their website to get current information on issues that concern my future. Let's stop the lies AARP is spreading by supporting the good guys, USA NEXT...

I do beleive this is the wish of all parents and grandparents

I wish this was the case, but it is not so. Those are the squeaky wheels getting the grease. Folks like you, who really care about their grandchildren and their futures are dismissed by the liberals and increasingly by the AARP.

As for the AARP being the only game in town. They are dwarfed by the Church. Imperfect and vilified, it provides more fellowship than the AARP ever could. It gives more hope than all the liberal speeches all put together and has taken care of more people than social security.

Don't put your faith in Government and man, they will surely fail. Put your faith in God, who alone is able to save from death, taxes and liberals combined.
