After months of growing rumors, it's official -- San Francisco's Camelot couple are splitting up.

Mayor Gavin Newsom and his Court TV analyst wife, Kimberly Guilfoyle Newsom, announced "with great sadness" the end of their 3-year-old bicoastal marriage in a brief statement issued late Wednesday by the mayor's City Hall press office.

"Unfortunately, the demands of our respective careers have made it too difficult for us to continue as a married couple," the pair said in the statement. "Over the past 10 years, we have developed a tremendous bond of love and respect for each other. That will never change.

"We will remain close friends," they said. "We ask for your understanding and consideration during this difficult time."

The announcement came after the close of business and right as Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger was delivering his State of the State speech -- timing intended, one source said, to take as much of the spotlight off the news as possible. There was no word on when the couple intend to file papers.

I bet it wasn't just "bicoastal".

Why would a San Francisco politician need a "beard"?

His marriage had no value so he decided to devalue the marriages of others. The way to cheapen was to make gay marriage legal. The California courts struck them down ....

You need to see the photo above. No other explanation for why she divorced him need be supplied.

She hated the ceaseless schmoozing with the horde of witless mutants clawing for her attention.

"Why would a San Francisco politician need a "beard"?"

Probably because he had national ambitions before he pulled the idiotic move of gay weddings shortly after his election and ticked off the DNC, shooting himself in the foot. Guess the Mrs. was interested in continuing the charade when it looked like his gubernatorial & presidential possibilities looked remote at best.

"Over the past 10 years, we have developed a tremendous bond of love and respect for each other

But not tremendous enough however that either of us would put that love ahead of our own narcisistic career goals, and actually put our marriage first.
