Well, it doesn't say terrorism. It says the charges were: interfering with the operator of a mass transportation vehicle and making false statements to the FBI. Of the two, I would guess that the interference with an operator of a mass transportation vehicle would fall under the Patriot Act. But I don't have a copy. Couldn't really say.

Considering the possible consequences of his actions, I hope they throw the book at him. There is no "innocence" in his behavior.

Now wait a minute. Maybe the guy was using this laser to square up the foundation for his new garage and it accidentally followed the trail of an aircraft cockpit.
