In the excerpted portion of the column the columnist concludes that Robert Murdoch runs the whole world (I assume with Karl Rove's).
The very idea that Michael Crichton is a right winger is idiocy. The fact that in this case his devotion to real science coincides with the view of corporate America is simply does not mean that he is their paid shill.

Fact is that the reason the left is so rabid over the entire "Green" issue is that it is just another way to centralize government power and control over industry...
If they were TRULY worried about being "Green," they'd be fighting against China for their pollution, the Middle East over theirs, and much of the THird World because of their tremendous amounts of environmental damage and pollution...
See PROOF that it's all about pushing another form of COMMUNISM

One of the more entertaining novels I've read about environment wackos was Tom Clancy's "Rainbow Six". I'll have to keep a lookout at the library for Crichton's book.

It never ceases to amaze me how hysterical the Left becomes when confronted by the fact that there is any alternative whatsoever to their propaganda. Ad Hominem/name-calling is always the first weapon of choice.
[Mental note: Make a point of buying every Crichton book, seeing every movie.]

This Wayne Madsen is another babbling idiot that screeches crap that only a DUmmie would believe.
When will our newspapers actually hire people that are capable of critical thinking and objective observation?
I guess the real question is when will our universities start hiring professors that are capable of critical thinking and objective observation?

LOL, I'm just finishing reading the novel, a reluctant Christmas gift from my left leaning mom. Chrichton should tack this guys column on as addendum, it just goes to show that reality global warmers are living in requires much more suspension of disbelief that your average sci-fi novel.
To: Straight Vermonter
Unlike the "silly science" of Crichton, a group of 300 scientists recently concluded that the Arctic is warming much more rapidly than previously known.
And I suppose "The Day After Tomorrow" is based on sound science.
This guy is really out there. It's hard to believe the level of hateful, venomous rant that this guy spewed out over a movie. It's a movie! Who cares you weaselly little scum! What is it that scares this guy so much about one movie that has a message he doesn't agree with? Perhaps he's afraid the public will start demanding REAL scientific studies on the issue of "global warming".
The Earth IS getting warmer right now. It's done it in the past and I'm sure it will do it in the future. These global cycles of warming and cooling are nothing new. It's been well documented.
Also, someone should tell this idiot that CO2 is plant food!

Wayne Madsen appears, after reading his article, to have a serious jealousy problem with Michael Crichton. After all, here he is, doing a "Guest Columnist" piece for a newspaper in a second tier market, while his subject is writing prophetic novels, directing and producing movies, has the hit series ER under his belt (along with his two degrees from Harvard) and is doing quite well, thank you.
I suspect his venom toward Murdoch stems from not being able to be in Murdoch's employ. Shills usually do so for financial gain. I wonder if Madsen is looking for employment with one of the MSM outlets, or maybe Air America.

Crichton is no different than crossword puzzle editors who are now paid to include as answers to their clues the names of corporations and brand names as a form of subtle advertising -- a new low in the newspaper business. Yes. Product names in crossword puzzles signals the end of modern day print journalism as we know it.
Someone put the coocoo back in this guy's clock. It is obviously running up and down his keyboard while his word processor is loaded.

For the sake of arguement, I will accept that the earth is warmer now that at anytime since 1500. If that is so, what made it so warm in 1500 and why is it not reasonable to assume that the forces at work 500 years ago are not now the forces at work warming the earth today? Why must it be blamed on industry and, in particular, the West?
