If this passes for conservatism in Britain, no wonder the Poms are quickly becoming Krauts-clones.

There is an awful lot of truth in this article. Just last night I told my wife how disgusted I was with all the news channels. It seems that all they do is criticize the governments of the world for failing to anticipate and immediately respond to one of the worst cataclysmic events in modern history. How vain and banal. It seems that blame, or the need to find cause to explain effect is simply human nature. For thousands of years man blamed the Gods for unimaginable suffering. Now it is the United States and global warming. It seems we just can't accept that sh_t happens.

"Unlike the tsunami, in the case of Iraq we at least know whom to blame. The war is being waged by two democracies, Britain and America. For its outcome they have only themselves to blame."
Interesting this shallow mind elevates Bush and Blair to the level of "God", and doesn't even have a clue.
I do not recall any contrasting and comparing Saddam to "God", when Saddam was slaughtering and butchering his own people.

The upper estimate of deaths in Iraq, 100,000, is eerily similar to that for the tsunami. The author has 'eerily' left out one other statistic - the number of deaths by abortion. Unlike an Act of God, these are all preventible.

Compared to the human beings murdered by abortion, this tsunami and the war in Iraq are nothing.

In the absence of God, blame has become our prevailing religion

blame has become our prevailing religion This occurred in Russia, with atheist communism. Somebodies head rolled with every problem. Under liberalism, blaming others replaces personal repentance.
