Abbas: There will be no peace until Israel tears down separation fence
By Reuters
Taking his campaign to succeed Yasser Arafat to the foot of the West Bank separation fence, PLO chief Mahmoud Abbas said on Wednesday there would be no peace until Israel tore it down.
"No (Middle East) peace can transpire with (Jewish) settlements and the wall," Abbas said with his back to the separation fence around Qalqilyah near the West Bank's boundary with Israel.
"We tell our neighbors: 'No matter how many settlements, walls or obstacles you build, it will not bring you security or peace," Abbas said.
The hearty welcome given Abbas at his first campaign rally in Jericho on Tuesday carried over on Wednesday to Qalqilyah and Tul Karm. Crowds repeatedly interrupted his speeches with cheers and people of all ages ran excitedly after his convoy.
Heavy security was draped around Abbas because of feared threats from militants opposed to peacemaking. However, local members of the al Aqsa Martyrs Brigades, an armed group in the mainstream Fatah faction that nominated Abbas for president, greeted Abbas and said they would vote for him.
Abu Salem, commander of the Brigades in Tul Karm, said gunmen would be receptive to Abbas's call for an end to armed violence, which has abated in most areas since Arafat died in November.
Abbas repeated his campaign theme that he would follow in Arafat's footsteps by vowing to seek a state in all of the West Bank and Gaza Strip with East Jerusalem as its capital and the "right of return" of refugees to what is now Israel.
Mr. Abbas, we get it. We really do. You don't want peace.
"Abbas: There will be no peace until Israel tears down separation fence"
...and dissolves the state of Israel. He left that part out.
Those opposed to Abbas making peace really have nothing to worry about.
The only thing I would like to see Israel do is install big gun turrets on that wall and keep 'em smoking. (Well, that's not ALL I would like to see them do, but I don't want to get banned, so I will just leave it at that.)
That guy sees life in a mirror - everything is exactly backward.
It should be assumed that this is a threat.
No sir. There can be no peace as long as you harbor villains who use children and the mentally challenged to strap bombs on themselves to commit homicide in the name of "Allah".
"The only thing I would like to see Israel do is install big gun turrets on that wall and keep 'em smoking. (Well, that's not ALL I would like to see them do, but I don't want to get banned, so I will just leave it at that.)"
Sounds good to me. Let's build one just like it on our border with Mexico.
Yeah, tear down the wall so they can destroy you better. Their idea of 'peace' is having the Jews exterminated or enslaved.
Clearest evidence yet that the fence is effective.
I'm with you!
In addition to that, design a system that would keep the turrets cool enough to never stop.
I'm right with you, there, my friend!
LOL! I like the way you think!
Peace = Pieces!
Abbas: There will be no peace until Israel tears down separation fence
so that our terrorists will have free access to carry out their murderous sorties.
Translation: "Unless you make it easier for us to kill you and your children on a daily basis, there will never be peace".
Just because the Arab Islamofacists are uneducated idiots, doesnt mean the rest of the world should be.
I read it as a threat immediately.
Boy, he is sure trying to "win over the hearts and minds" of the Jews, isn't he. Maybe Bush could take some lessons from him in dealing with some of the Muslims.
I don't trust anyone that Arafat was close to---"the enemy of my enemy" kind of thing.
