More uncounted ballots found in Wash.

SEATTLE (AP) — With Washington state in the middle of a recount of its amazingly close governor's race, election officials in Seattle's King County entered a warehouse Friday and found a plastic tray containing 150 misplaced ballots.

The discovery brings the number of belatedly discovered ballots to 723 in the heavily Democratic county — potentially enough to swing the election to Democrat Christine Gregoire.

Republican Dino Rossi won the Nov. 2 election over Gregoire by 261 votes in the first count and by just 42 after a machine recount of the 2.9 million ballots cast. On Thursday, with every county except King, Pierce and Spokane reporting, Rossi had pulled ahead by 74 votes.

The Republican Party went to court Friday to try to block, for the time being, the opening of those ballots. A judge set an afternoon hearing.

King County Elections Director Dean Logan told The Seattle Times that the ballots in the tray, like the 573 other ballots found earlier this week, were mistakenly rejected because there was a problem with how the voters' signatures had been scanned into the county's computer system. The tray apparently was left behind and forgotten in the warehouse, Logan said.

Election workers, along with observers from the political parties, searched the locked cage inside the warehouse.

The search of the warehouse was prompted by a curious finding: None of the envelopes of the 573 other ballots contained names beginning with the letters A or B, and only two started with C, The Times reported.

King County election officials want to count the ballots, which they say are valid votes. Republicans want those ballots to stay rejected — or at the very least, they want King County to investigate further before adding them to the mix.

There should be 'chain-of-custody' requirement for ballots.

Holy cow! The 'rats hid ballots in the train tunnel at Monte Christo? Whoa... no wonder they didn't find them - that's not King County! Wow! ;0)

I remember reading about Boss Tweed 'finding' more votes all the time too.

But in the meantime, we'll be here jumping up and down... :)

Maybe it's psychology. If ballots are found and rejected 3 times it doesn't seem as big a deal as if ballots are found 8 times. It seems to put them in a postion to count more of them.

However, they must see how stupid and fraudulent it appears to keep finding ballots. That's when they just start screaming louder and take over the media.

I'll check this thread tonight. It's almost 4:00 pm in Virginia now and I have Christmas shopping to do (at Republican backed stores).

That's just one of many possible places they could be!!! I'm told that on the back of many of these ballots it says "Made in China." :-)

The assholes in Washington deserve this fiasco. They're the idiots that keep electing these Democrat scumbags time and again, particularly now that they control both houses of the legislature. Let 'em have it all!

This whole mess can be resolved with a run-off election. This is a good example of the democrat/communist party slowing erroding away our liberties with election fraud.

An election for Governor of a state does not fall within the jurisdiction of the Federal Justice Department.

Two Points:

Most of Washington is red, not blue. It is just that the red precincts don't have the population that Seattle and King Cty. has.

The second point is, both Murray and Cantwell are embarrasments. But, I wonder why neither of them have weighed in on this.

Whoa! Down boy! Only half the spincters in Washington deserve this. The other half voted for the R party. 51% are electing the US Senators and Gov. We **ROUTINELY** have some of the closes races in the country. What this episode is showing is that the results, particularly in King County, may be bogus. So the actual facts may be that most of the people in WA. are victims of a conspiracy of 49% of the voters and a few King Co. election fraudsters to disenfranchise them. Regardless of outcome Civil Rights laws need to be applied in future elections. Based on the fact that King Co. is the home to most minorities in the state and that King Co. obviously is losing votes, minorities are being disenfranchised. Ashcroft is well within his rights to take supervision of elections (esp. Federal ones) away from King Co. and turn it over to a Federal Judge. This was done routinely in the South circa 1966 and was still in place as late as 1984 (maybe still is?)

The Democratic controlled election aparatus has lost the right to conduct future elections for a generation, IMHO.

That's because the People's Republic of Washington is not run by Republicans. The 'pubbies are not "in charge".

Well, its time for the Republicans to "discover" some uncounted ballots of their own.

Fight fire with fire.

Only if they don't cheat enough and end up losing. Then they'll be mad and whine as well as being self-conscious. But, if their fraud works (as it probably will in the case of WA) then they'll not be self-conscious in the least, because their side will have "won".
