Would you prefer an employee who thinks the job he's doing is beneath him but begrudgingly does it, or one who takes pride in the job and feels no shame in telling his friends what he does? Gee whiz Rod, you've spent many a thread ranting and raving about how no parent would want their child to work one of these dirty, unpleasant jobs.
Why would an impressionable teenager take pride in work that you publicly state is beneath them?

A number of FReepers have made statements to the effect that illegals are taking jobs away from teenagers.
As an employer which would you prefer, a twenty year old boy or girl doing a job that they considered unpleasant just to make some spending money during Summer vacation or a thirty year old immigrant who is thankful to have the job in order to feed his family?
Which employee would you prefer. One who is wanting to get a better, easier job or one who thinks the one he has is just fine?
Would you prefer an employee who thinks the job he's doing is beneath him but begrudgingly does it, or one who takes pride in the job and feels no shame in telling his friends what he does?

Meanwhile in Cali, our kids have to sit in classrooms of 35+, of whom 15 are illegals who don't bring mucho English, but do bring mucho drug-resistant TB, Chagas Fever, etc etc. Travis McGee says Mexican's is ill educated and filthy. Another keeper.

Even the most sophisticated equipment costing hundreds of thousands of dollars requires an operator to keep it supplied with raw material, keep the tools lubricated, remove the shavings etc... It's not the type job American kids dream of growing up to do.
Ever see the people operating heavy road building equipment? In Texas they are almost all Hispanics. Just because someone is operating a state of the art million dollar piece of equipment doesn't mean it's a high status job.

What you want is a person you can trust, relate to, will take directions, is dependable, and in short will do the best job.
Why does that choice lead automatically to an illegal?
What does that say about the people already living as citizens in this country?

I've never known a parent who wanted his children to grow up to be garbage collectors and maids. Why do people begrudge immigrants who are happy to have those jobs?

It's the moral relativists, American Traitor whores and other profiteers that can't deal with what's coming down...

Any young citizen who aspires to spend the rest of his life doing a hard, dirty, low paying job shouldn't have any trouble getting one.

Most Americans want illegal immigration stopped cold. The two groups that don't are the left wing, which wants more impoverished minorities to come to America and vote Democrat, and big business, which wants more impoverished immigrants to come here and drive American wages down. You forgot legal immigrants and natural citizen who don't like seeing anybody spat upon.

1. Do you employ Illegal Aliens, as you've implied? Not currently.
What did you mean by that, then? Hard keeping all those stories straight....good thing for us FR is searchable.
That response has as much credibility as naming Kerik for the director of Homeland Security. Recorded words and paper trails have a way of coming back to haunt.

"But don't you think that the more sinister aspect of this laissez-faire 'capitalism' you espouse is an active interest in keeping a certain percentage of the population uneducated and desperate? Right now, Mexico has no interest in providing for its own population, because they can be farmed out to the U.S. In return, the U.S. has no interest in putting pressure on Mexico to reform, because Mexico is a source for an endless supply of cheap labor."
I like where you're going with this.
Let me add to it.
As long as a few people can cheat the system, the natural free market supply and demand policies will never correct inadequacies or inefficiencies in the system.
In addition, as long as some companies can gain a competitive edge over other companies by using government facilitated cheating, there will never be the political pressure on politicians to make the necessary reforms in OUR political and economic system.
What changes am I referring to?
How about eliminating government waste and scaling back the size of government
Trimming of government entitlement programs
Fair tax code which makes American business more competitive
Tort reform...the greatest killer of American ingenuity and entrpreneurism
The list goes on....
This is what the repubs need to concentrate on.
Some politicians are content to hold off REAL reforms to help American business, but instead reward the big money contributers UNDER THE TABLE using cheap labor as a payoff.

That is precisely what the Republican Party *would* do if they, imo, didn't have an agenda that was counter to America's interests and needs...
