God bless Hillary Clinton (As she moves to the "right" against illegal immigration)
The Washington Times ^ | 12/15/2004 | Tony Blankley

Posted on 12/15/2004 3:50:59 AM PST by jocon307

What I suspect may be a gathering storm on President Bush's horizon in 2005 is a confluence of factors that will force on Washington a fundamental immigration reform -- one that will seek to genuinely secure our borders. This is something that up until now neither the Republican Party nor the Democratic Party has wanted...

Adding piquancy to this legislative challenge for President Bush and the Republican-controlled Congress is the entrance from stage right of Hillary R. Clinton, 2008 Democratic Presidential Nominee, presumptive.

In the last few weeks the ever cold-blooded Miss Hillary has started to stake out a position to the right of the Republican Party. Just listen to her Pat Buchananesque defiance: "[I do] not think that we have protected our borders or our ports ... we can do more and we can do batter?I am, you know, adamantly against illegal immigrants... Clearly we have to make some tough decisions as a country, and one of them ought to be coming up with a much better entry-and-exit system so that if we are going to let people in for... work...lets have system that keeps track of them... People have to stop employing illegal immigrants."

These are hardly idle pensees coming from The Iron Maiden of Chappaqua. Rather, it is a part, and a big part, of her calculated strategy to shed her liberal image and seize the White House from the Republicans in 2008 by attacking them on the most vulnerable part of their right flank: open borders, illegal immigration and lax anti-terrorist security.

I never thought I would write the following words, but: God bless Hillary Clinton. Though her motives are cynical, their effects may well be vital both to our national security and to our sovereign responsibility to control our borders.

I don't give a rat's *ss about the horrible conditions in Mexico. Nor do I give the slightest whit about whether or not Americans will do the jobs or not.

What matters is the fact that millions of people are sneaking into my country every year. Could be terrorists, could be anybody.

It's a national security issue, first and foremost. That's what chaps my *ss. AFAIC, the economic issues are secondary, because if we don't take care of our national security, we won't have an economy to worry about

You better damn well care about a country that shares a 2,000 mile border with the US, putting your hands up to your ears and screaming "lalalalalalala" isn't going to make Mexico go away.

And are you going to beleive a person(hillary) who had a hand in pardoning FALN terrorists. If you do I have a bridge to sell you.

You are trying to mix apples and bricks. Your shellgame-change-the-topic is a way to sidestep the issue.

Americans being on welfare has no relation to illegals being subsidized.

The primary beneficiary of illegals is businesses who get a pass. They pay lower wages and avoid having to pay benefits, which makes the taxpayers pay for the subsidizies to illegals.

"And you also forget to mention the billions of taxpayers money spent on welfare on people born in the US."

How about deporting the illegal aliens and telling the welfare cases that they can either clean tiolets, mow lawns, pick crops or starve? I've done every one of those jobs and somehow survived. Without the Gub'mint cheese.

And hillary will go along with this?

I doubt it. Look this problem didn't start overnight and it isn't going to be solved overnight, a guest worker program puts all these people above board and is a start.

Words are cheap. In the clinton's case, very very cheap.

Let her propose legislation that would immediately cut govt benefits to illegals, mandate exportation of criminal aliens immediately, and a quadrupling of Mexical border patrol agents, and THEN I will believe her.

Well stated. There is a total disconnect between her words and deeds. DO NOT WAIT for such proposal.

Re your post #50: I agree. You're right, talk is cheap. I also will believe the Hildebeast is serious about immigration when I see her vote for border control. However, I hope she does. I'll gratefully take border control support wherever I can find it. Just as the liberals were no doubt glad to have so many Republicans support the recent multibillion (trillion?) dollar Medipill entitlement scam, conservatives should welcome any support they can get for meaningful immigration reform, even when it comes from someone who makes your flesh crawl.

Yes I am a free trader or as you call it a free "traitor", becuase I think that the less govt. regulation on business is good for an economy.

BTW, your "sarcasm" in your reply #83 to t2d's reply #67 just shows how intellectually bankrupt you are to basically accuse me of such a heinous and ugly name.

You sir are scum.

"[T]he 9/11 scum entered the country legally,"

Some may have ENTERED legally, but they were not here legally at the time of their attack. Also, if you follow up on the "Visa Express" system via which several entered you'd soon see it has more holes that a Swiss Cheese and if they applied via Visa Express, Osama Bin Laden himself, with Mullah Omar in tow, could probably be waltzing down Newark airport's concourse by noontime tomorrow.

"...anybody who comitts a violent crime should be deported, nice try at deflection."

BUT THEY ARE NOT! That is the point, they are not deported, and often even if they are, they simply walk back across the border.

"My beef with you guys is your hatred of good legitmate business owners trying to find good and hard working workers so that they can pursue the American dream of being a business owner and prospering."

First of all, let me say "hatred" is a word that is thrown around way too much. But the underaddressed issue on this subject is how many labor laws, tax laws, etc. are broken in the hiring of illegals? I always hear how illegals "pay taxes" and while it is obvious that they pay sales taxes, etc. I find it hard to believe that payroll taxes and soc. security are being remitted on the wages paid to people who should not even be in the country. There was a recent case in NY State where high-end restaurants had their bathroom attendants working just for the tips, no wages paid to them at all, and certainly no taxes remitted. I'm not sure all the workers were illegal, but the practice certainly is.

I'm not interested in creating or importing a serf class in America, nor am I amused by our descent into a bi-lingual society (that may not be a big deal where you are, but last year I couldn't find an "English only" copy of "the Cat in the Hat" to give my niece for Christmas, her other aunt had to pick one up for me out-of-town). And I'm strongly opposed to making a mockery of the law, which our current non-system does every single day in every single way, to the detriment of all involved, illegals included.

The President can, and will, I believe, nip this HILLARY HYPOCRISY in the bud before it begins to flower. I remember how he was able to circumvent the junior New York senator's "Whoring for the Troops Tour" on Thanksgiving Day last year...I believe he'll make some real moves to nullify her in this endeavor.

Immigration and border legislation in 2005 is likely to be the last chance the Republicans have to put their stamp on those issues. Their failure to do so would: 1) give Hillary three years to champion such Buchananite reform; 2) visibly split the Republican Party on the issue; 3) thereby undercut the Republican unity President Bush will need to pass his Social Security and Tax reforms, and 4) set up Hillary to patch together an unlikely, but formidable, electoral coalition of disenchanted border-security Republicans and main street Democrats for the 2008 campaign.

Spot on, Tony. This does provide a green light that Karl Rove and GWB have been waiting for.

I agree, this immigration peoblem started after the dismantling of the bracero(guest worker program) in the mid 60's. It has been festering for over 40 years.

"None, just sticking up for business owners and farmers who produce wealth for all and looking for hard working workers who can get the job done and not to demonize them as you do".

Well as LAW ABIDING business owner since I started my own business in 1988.

Thanks....but no thanks.

Please feel free NOT TO STICK UP FOR ME!

I can hire all the illegals I can stuff in my shop. But fortunately...when I need to hire...I go straight to my States TRADE schools...and I HIRE AMERICAN CITIZENS!

Why should farmers get a "pass" from practicing illegal business prectices?

My head of lettuce already costs like 5 or 6 bucks....if I factor in all the social services illegals suck up.

Your arguments are lame, they hold no merit.
