This story was carried on the local TV news last night. It was also on a CBS national radio newscast just a few minutes ago. The K-Mart parking lot referred to is in Sioux Falls, SD.

Morals? Family Values? Even a sense of common decency maybe?

The mother is a Native American Indian I take it. Do they have some sort of religious belief that prevents them from practicing birth control? This woman sure as hell should have been on something if she didn't want to take care of her children.

Since when are children referred to as "it"? A human being should not be referred to as an "it".
The "child" was left in the cold. Not "it" was left in the cold.
Stupid reporters.

Maybe I'm being picky; but I'm bothered by how many times this child was referred to as an
it. Really robs the human identity in my eyes.
"It was wearing a coat and wrapped in a baby blanket."
At that time she removed the seven month old from the vehicle and placed it in the parking lot with the father."
"It was sleeping when we came in contact with it the entire time the baby was smiling."
...tried to keep it warm and called us right away

It's the old proverbial question--who came first the f*cked up people or the bad parents?
Why, why, why do these people have children??! I am inclined to think in many of these cases the women keep the baby thinking they are going to snare the man. Why else would women like this have children?

To think I was feeling guilty last night when we were leaving the in laws's house. We went out to the car and asked, "Who has the baby?" He was in the house a whole minute (my in-laws were still there), but I still felt horrible.
