First, which directorate of the KGB? Do you know how many different directorates there were and how radically different they were? Second, he was not hand picked by Yeltsin, he was hand picked by the Oligarches and other Friends of Gore (aka with Clinton help) as someone who would continue the Russian Oligarchical-US Leftist relationship. Unfortunetly for them, he turned on them, pushed through real reforms and half the Oligarches are in self exile to avoid prosecution.
Did you complain when Clinton sponsored and backed Yeltsin blew up the Russian parliment on US orders to make sure that the sell off of resources and companies proceed at full pace?
