No need to withdraw your previous comments. It's true that Bush has not gone to bat for any of his appointees. Regardless of how they were portrayed in the media.

Bernie just withdrawled his nomination ..

I'm willing to forgive Lieberman's flip-flops on issues such as affirmative action after he was one of the few democrats who staunchly supported Bush in Iraq and never compromised that position even while running for the dem nomination.

Liberman is a bum - plain and simple - He struck out with the pro-American, pro-war stance because that is all that was left for him (Dean, Kerry, Sharpton, Edwards and the Ohio fool had all taken as much of the anti-war pie that was available) - Liberman tried to win the nomination by working the center -

He would have switched his stance in a heart beat if he thought it would have brought him victory - Liberman switched his stances on national security , Affirmative action, School vouchers, Capital gains taxes, etc, etc, etc in 2000....and he did it for power!.....The man is a bum -

I don't care what it is! He was the best man for the job. Who the F cares what is in his background for God's sake?!?? His wife was likely handling that like most wives of professional men do! Damn it this sucks. I think this is horrible for our country! Bloody Dim's, they did this didn't they? I hope they have hold of their a$$es cause W is gonna make em pay. If not him, then certainly the Republicans in congress are gonna take this as an invitation to whomp em. When are "they" gonna get the meaning of the phrase, "in the best intrest of the Nation"? Kerik was in the best interest of the Nation. I wish they would fight this rather than capitulate.

Kerik Withdraws Nomination to Head DHS

WASHINGTON — Former New York Police Commissioner Bernard Kerik (search), President Bush's choice to be homeland security secretary, has withdrawn his name from consideration, the White House announced late Friday.

Presidential press secretary Scott McClellan, in a conference call to news organizations, revealed that Kerik had withdrawn "for personal reasons."

"The president respects his decision and wishes the commissioner and his wife, Hala, well," McClellan said in a statement.

It seems that the oversight took place during the 4years he was in Saudi and the year he spent in Iraq....

To me it seems that a third of fourth party would have made those decisions in his absenceThe WH should go to thew mat if they belive this man is the best guy for the job

Local NBC alert said reason was employment (previously) of illegal housekeeper and nanny.

at some point, our side has to stand up to the media leftists.

we can't win elections, have grass roots voter effort drives which are successful, build our own alternative media outlets - only to elect people who will not fight back. what good is winning elections, if when you get into power, you aren't willing to take this stuff on?

when the Dems win elections, they are able to successfully seat people who are one step away from indictments. we can't get a guy in there who didn't pay some nanny taxes while he was in iraq.

I hate to say it, this is the same tactic the republicans used to kill several clinton nominees. Common sense never seems to be a strong suit when it comes to confirmations!

It's not a fantasy. Bush has never thought that tightening our borders was worth anything. Although, in this case, it appears that Kerik, if he was hiring illegals is no better.

We worked hard to elect Bush so that the WOT would continue to be prosecuted in a way that would keep America as safe as possible and because we like our tax cuts and because he's a decent guy and because John Kerry was the alternative. Similar answers for the Senators. What we have to do is stay in the trenches and keep fighting for the conservative values and issues important to us and hope we can convince enough people that the median voter continues to shift to the right.

But part of being a Republican is facing disappointment when the folks you supported and elected turn out not to be as hard core as you.

Right everybody?

You think he was instituting policy before his confirmation.

Take another sip of the koolade and repeat after me:This guy
had slime written all over him.

Someone should be fired for
suggesting him to the President.

From Drudge:

Washington stunned by Friday night release of Bernard Kerik from consideration of homeland security secretary... Reports claim Kerik withdrew due to 'Nanny Problem'.. possibly had an illegal alien baby-sitting his kids and failed to properly report her taxable income... MORE...

well it's true and I was really caught off guard the way this guy just thought Kerik for HS was flat out the wrong choice after working with him.

I don't know much about him, and have no idea if he would have been any good. But I do know that the Left would love to take him down (and apparently they have).
