While many soldiers will appreciate his efforts, it goes against all military policies for health and fitness.
Punks. Tell these guys who are working 18 hour days, 6 or 7 days a week, and who might get shot any minute that they need "care packages that don't kill".

I just sent my bro-in-law cigs. If he has stopped smoking, fine, they make for great barter.
If one is a smoker there is nothing more relaxing than finally getting the chance to sit down and light up after being on the move under tremendous stress for a long period of time.
I guess one has to experience the effect to appreciate it. Smoking is a nasty unhealthy habit but if it helps some of the
troops get thru the day let it happen.
Dying from smoking is not our combat forces major concern.

I wholeheartedly agree. Smoke 'em while you're staring down Death, or use them as barter when needed to get info on the enemy.
Back in the late 70's, they used to put smokes and matches in our MREs! I wasn't interested in smoking but was able to trade them for brownies and packs of gum, LOL!

I'm back on the ciggies (want to quit again, just so I can take up running again), so I know it's great to take a break and relax with a ciggie, but in a prolonged combat situation you can do that.
A nic patch or chewing the gum both helps with the jitters and can help with alertness.

As a recovering smoker I would never buy or sell cigarettes to anyone. For James Miller and his kind I would make an exception.

Our men and women in Iraq can drink purple milk as far as I'm concerned. The war presents a far greater danger to them than a couple of puffs on a cigarette.
I adopted a soldier, don't know for sure who I got, but I'm packing a carton of Marlboro Reds in the box in with all the rest of the stuff. I figure if he/she doesn't smoke, they'll probably be able to trade a few smokes for an ungodly amount of STUFF from someone else!
Oh, and who can find out how much $$ or supplies the American Lung Association has spent on our soldiers? Not a lot, I'll bet!
American soldiers putting thier lives on the line in combat can have whatever they want !

Actually to all who were wondering about sending cigarettes to the soldiers.
Fox News had a story on tonight about a radio host in Skokie Illinois named Mike North who's collecting cartons to send to them. (He collected 100,000 cigs) You can probably get in touch with him at the radio's website to see if you can mail them to him to send or whatever. Their url is: http://www.670thescore.com/
The story also featured a press conference by the local ALA Antismoker Joel Africk, who said, and I quote:
"Tobacco use presents an immediate and real danger for our soldiers who are on the lines today..." The ALA went on to say that "our troops should be sent care packages that don't kill."
An "immediate and real danger" eh? I wonder if perhaps we could arrange for Mr. Africk to spend a few few weeks walking around Fallujah educating our soldiers about the dangers they are facing from tobacco smoke?
