Dude, you really should look into this thing called "anger management". Wishing somebody dead for a post on FreeRepublic is the teensiest weensiest bit over the top.

Nor do I suspect that was a desired result. : )

It took them this long to ban lighters? I mean, if smoking was already banned, what need would anyone have for a lighter??? I might want to set a liberal on fire!

Prior to 9-11, please cite some examples of terrorist a**holes flying aircraft into large buildings . . .
It only takes one time to make regrets.
To: Prime Choice
Nope, no strip searches for them. (Dang people seemed to be obsessed with the strip searches! LOL) I know some will still get on the plane. But, this will at least minimize it.

Not really a bizarre internal fantasy. I am willing to bet there are more pyromaniacs that fly on commercial aircraft daily than terrorists.
To: Tumbleweed_Connection
Although we do not have a case of a lighter causing a plane to crash, we do have according to the FAA a case where a fuel tank exploded for not apparent reason.
Why not remove all the planes that have the same type of fuel tank and electrical components as the plane which blew up?
Oh thats right we are not really trying to stop possible problems, we are trying to stop smoking.
That is what this is about, period.

I might want to set a liberal on fire! And I completely support that! Just do it at the baggage claim, not on the plane. LOL : )

I am willing to bet there are more pyromaniacs that fly on commercial aircraft daily than terrorists. Fine, let me carry a Glock and I promise to take care of any pyromaniacs.

How about we compromise and let the pilots carry the glock? : )
To: Prime Choice
Civil libertarians are embarrassing because they treat every government rule as a personal attack on their God given right to do whatever they want.
Banning a fire-staring device that contains combustable material from an airplane is not tantamount to strip searches and nudity. Get some perspective. There is no good reason to have a lighter on a plane, not a single one. So that fact that people are so vehemently against the ban is more due to a childish "you can't tell me what to do" than a real loss of liberty
It's just embarrassing is all
To: Bluegrass Conservative
How about we compromise and let the pilots carry the glock? : ) It should be up to the airline not the Feds.
To: Tumbleweed_Connection
Couldn't they have just banned "Freebird" from the airlines' playlist? Would have solved the lighter problem.

To light your cigs before the flight and after you get off the flight in a smoking area.

Anger had nothing to do with it and the statement stands.

To: AdamSelene235
I agree with that. Can't say I want anyone accept pilots and authorized law enforcement packing on the plane though.
To: Ginifer
Either wait until you get your baggage, or if you're jonesing so bad on a layover, buy a cheap Bic.

I agree with that. Can't say I want anyone accept pilots and authorized law enforcement packing on the plane though. Buy your own airline.
