(Vanity) Is DRUDGEREPORT.COM spreading Computer viruses?

For the last two days, every time I visit Drudge, my computer gets hijacked by some pop-up virus. Am I the only one? I have to put the Yahoo-toolbar virus scanner on it and it tells me I got a Trojan horse hijacking my computer. It does get rid of it, but what's going on? Can someone please proof me wrong, so I can look for the cause somewhere else? Or have you experienced it too. Is drudge out of money or something to allow this scumware to infect his readers' computers?

I don't understand how "tabbed browsing" is different.

It's simple; you can open many multiple websites within just one browser window if you choose to do so, rather then cluttering your desktop (and taskbar) with many separate browser windows. Much easier to manage.

Try it, you'll never go back. But if you like the clutter, Firefox also allows you to open as many separate windows as you ever did with (gag!) IE.

I use AOL dialup and I have Norton Antivirus. Do I still need FIREWALL protection, or is that usually just needed for "always on" connections such as DSL, broadband and such?

That's mighty big talk for a crap firefox browser that has 3% to Microsoft's 92.9% share.
In my book, 92.9% "beats the crap" out of 3% any day.
IE has over 25 times the market share of that piece of garbage called firefox.

I bit the bullet and purchased Ad-Aware SE Plus (only Ad-Aware Se is free and doesn't monitor your on line activity for prevention purposes), with Ad-watch. Its amazing the amount crap you slush through on line. The net is a very dirty place :(.
Ad-Aware was recommended here and received 5 stars at about.com, also they recommended swatit (free).

# 1, I repeat: That's mighty big talk for a poor excuse for a firefox "browser" with a measly 3 % of the market.
firefox is a rounding error.
As for my job (and you have no idea what I do for a living), chances are I'll do it far longer than whatever the hell it is that you "do". ( Hint, posting open source crapola all day is not considered a proper job).
Plus I'll probably make more money at it (like I already have), than you will ever do.


And # 2, I heard of Wordstar, Lotus, Wordperfect, Netscape Nvigator etc etc etc.
Almost all of them got clobbered by Microsoft. :)
On the other hand, Microsoft has never been overtaken in any market that they have lead in.
Once Microsoft has grabbed hold of the leadership of any market, no one has been able to grab that market back from them.
Take that and chew upon it together with all that cheap open source will you?

Tabbed browsing allows you to open multiple websites in one browser. They each appear under individual 'tabs', like a file folder. If you go to the Mozilla site, it shows you how it works, and what it looks like.

Yes, get a firewall. Keyloggers and those little (ro)bots that hackers use to create Deinal of Service attacks against sites can work with the slowest of dialups.

Yep, you're right. The internet is something akin to the Wild West, so it sometimes seems.

I hope what I've written will help some. It might not stop all the nasties, but stopping the payload in any way possible can only help.

Why are you so desperate and defensive about Microsoft's virus-transportation systems? The word's been out for a couple of years: Internet Exploder and Outschnook are crap, and will clog your system with spyware and viruses.

Firefox is better. Much better. Period. The only reason MS has any significant market share is that FF has only been 1.0 and widely-promoted for a month. One single month.

And everyone I know has switched.

I don't use Internet Exploder; been on Netscape since 2.0, most recently on 7.1. And even I switched within 15 minutes of installing Firefox.

Whatever your silly reasons for being so defensive and paranoid, IE is going down. Why shouldn't it? It's old-fashioned, it's de-featured, it's lame, it's slow, it's full of bugs and it hosts system attackers. In short, it's crap, and even "free" it's not worth the money. Open your eyes.
