Police discovered a cache of weapons in the Rockaway home of a man pulled over for speeding, police said yesterday. ...Stephen Maloney, 45, has no links to any criminal groups, police said. Rather, they said, it appears that he collects guns and that he was carrying one in his car because he felt threatened by local teens with whom he had a recent dispute. advertisement advertisement When Maloney was pulled over Friday night at Beach 100th Street and Rockaway Beach Boulevard, he had a loaded Derringer -- an old-fashioned weapon -- police said. Later, as he was being questioned at the 100th precinct stationhouse, Maloney -- dressed in military fatigues, admitted that he had more guns in his apartment, at 178 Beach 92nd St. Maloney was charged with multiple counts of criminal possession of a weapon, as were three other people in his apartment when police showed up: his wife, Debra Maloney, 50, and two other men who live in the three-family house, William Schreiber, 51, and his brother, Emil Schreiber, 44. Piekarski described Stephen Maloney as a "gun buff" and said that while it does not appear he was intent on wreaking havoc, police are glad to have recovered a significant number of guns. "We got a lot of guns off the street," Piekarski said. "Even though we feel he may not be a really bad guy, these guns can cause very serious injury or death to someone on the street." Neighbors said Stephen Maloney delivers for a nearby pizzeria. They also said he had his tires slashed about two months ago and that those who committed the vandalism had been harassing him. Kevin Reily, however, said he did not think Maloney would hurt the teens. "To be honest with you I think the guy is harmless," Reily said.

As a NY lawyer myself, you have more to fear from the police than you do the average criminal. I am a true conservative and have seen many people like this get treated worse than dirt.

What Warp in the Time and Space Continuum did these cops enter that allowed them to look in his car and see his gun collection at home???
Does it bother anyone that the new secretary of homeland defense is the former NY city police commissioner? I wonder if he comes with a whole lot of anti-gun baggage. I would expect so.
You beat me to it.
Jeez! Gimme a break. This goes beyond the ridiculous.
They put his address in to tell the burglers where to rob next since he has no way to protect his family form them now.
And why is Chicago have so many murders by guns?
That's how propaganda works. You got to play it up like they did something monumental by depriving him his constitutional rights.
Boy, I know how that is. It's tough enough navigating through my driveway with all the kid's toys laying around. How much more dangerous it would be having to weave around all those guns laying in the streets.
Nothing wrong with that, when I got out I literally wore out the rest of my BDUs they're good work clothes, they were designed to be.Plus the little woman thinks I look sexy in them, hmmm maybe a trip to the surplus store is in order.
Ditto. Nothing more than Facsists.
Stand by. "Dirty" Don Perata will be president pro tem. of the state senate for the next two-year session (assuming he escapes indictment).
You can bet that he'll have a long list of gun control bills lined up, and don't count on Arnold to veto 'em, either.
"...these guns can cause very serious injury or death to someone on the street."
Isn't that the point? I bought my guns with the very intent of inflicting very serious injury or death to any criminals, terrorists, or blue helmets that threaten me.
So is there now a limit on the number of guns or ammunition one can own? Only 5000 rounds? I have about 10,000 and believe that may be insufficient.
