This morning on WMAL radio I heard someone, I believe it was Richard Leiby of the Washington Post Reliable Source column, say that Hillary Clinton has decided that she is too polarizing a person to win the presidency in 2008, so she will concentrate on raising money with the purpose of winning back the Senate for the Democrats.
This is a crock, and I don't think even he believed it because he commented on how much she has moved to the center and is cooperating with Republicans. If she had no designs on the presidency in 2008, she would be moving way to the left of Kennedy and Kerry as fast as her little legs would carry her. This is a typical Hillary lie which she thinks will calm anti-Hillary passions while she raises money and make plans for her inauguration in 2009.
Hmm.. Good point!
Howdy y'all, short time reader, first time poster.
As a Native Texan now SoCal transplant, I've voted nothin but GOP all my 19 voting years.
If Hillary can convince me she's furiously anti-illegal alien, she's got my vote.
I look forward to my new bumper sticker:
"Howdy Hillary, Hasta Hombres"
Object is to NOT elect HITLARY.
The way I see it, the RINO-King McLame would guarantee a victory against Hitlary, as would Powell, but he won't run.
I fear Hitlary in WH 1 billion times more than I fear a RINO in WH.
Condi's achievements, posture, presentation, and inner self, at least to this "guys guy" exhibits strength, credibility, and dignity. I think she acts in a way that commands respect.
The RATS do not have anyone I can think of, white or black, who even come close in that department.
Hillary's been running for president for 30 years.....
I haven't seen any signs of repentance from the Junior Senator from NY.
Unless the GOP tackles this illegal alien invasion, anything could happen.
Perhaps a deathbed conversion.
I wish she would run. We'd get to go back into all the CRAP Bill did and that might bring on a major heart attack. Plus if she was the Demo cand in 08, EVERY male Repub.conservative in this country would vote, without a doubt against that commie/bitch.
What if all of us republicans changed our party to dem & ran her out of the primaries?
You're exactly right.
Not only can she save herself embarassment but she can save a lot of MONEY by not running!
I don't think Hillary wants to stay in the Senate. A lot of Senate work is boring. She has always wanted to be President, and her Senate seat was just the first step.
Actually I believe that Democrats will vote for ANYONE that isn't a Republican! They don't really care about the values and morals of the candidate or even about their stand on the issues for that matter. They just want to vote for a Democrat!
I suppose it can be. It would depend on the individual. If she is thinking for herself she can do a lot within the Senate and have influence far outside. If she is trying to be something she is not, she may find her position stifling. If winning the Presidency will validate her life for her and nothing else will do, then she may remain unvalidated.
So I credit the brain trust with some seriously good political skills (at the politics as marketing level). And I think Hillary is totally able to look at trends, 04 results, internal surveys and make the logical jump that she can't win. SHE CAN'T WIN. Unlike Billy Bob, she is smart enough to skip it if she really believes that. We shall see.
My mother is a yellow dog Democrat from Jackson County here in Texas and it dont git anymore Democrat than that. I have told her often that " You'd vote for O.J. Simpson if the Democrats ran him for President!", and she would too.
I hope someone is keeping track of the Hillary B.S. statements, starting with the claim of being a conservative, evangelical christian. It's going to be a long four years of campaigning and we will need all the back up references that we can get.
The primaries in 2008 will be the place that the Dems presidential candidate will be determined. We should know by May 2008 who the "presumptive" nominee will be.
I think that being out of office, any office, for Hillary would be disasterous to a presidential run in 2008. She may run for Governor of New York depending on the opposition on the Republican side but she would be in an elected office if she won. The path to the Presidency seems to be easier for governors than for liberal Senators.
The New York primaries in 2006 will be where she has to decide which office she will run for. She will run for the one that gives her the best chance to remain in an elected office and the Dems will put up a slate of candidates for the other.
I just don't see her winning the 2008 primaries for President as a defeated Senator or a defeated candidate for Governor. But that's just my opinion and we shall see what takes place in the 2006 and 2008 election seasons.
If Hillary is a candidate in 2008, it might be a good idea to have a lot of publicity about all the 15-year anniversaries that will be coming up in 2008, such as Waco, filegate, and travelgate.
