Should The F-22 be cancelled?

Yes. This type of aircraft has no place in the modern battlefield and Foreseeable conflicts. The money could be put into more usefull sistems (each unit cost about $235 million for 239 planes) Whats your opinion?

No. The more than thirty five year old F15 is already obsolete and being regularly trounced by 15 year old Soviet designs, let along what the Russians and French (our historic enemies) are selling to the world today.

The F22 is the minimum aircraft we need for air superiority.

Unless, of course, you are in favor of that 5 year "Manhatten Project" effort to produce the F43? I didn't think so.

Raptor (Lightening II) it is, until THOR clears the skys and the ground of our enemies.

Live with it. Freedom isn't free.

"We've had UFO platforms for decades that could wholesale outperform it in a list of ways..."

Really? You may cite the designations and manufacturers now, please. A link to an X-Files website doesn't count.

" Then there are the more advanced smoke screens that can outperform it. Besides that, there are the drone smoke screens..."

??????????????????????????????????????????????????????????

Obviously, someone else with no credible opinion.

Air dominance is better insured by better missile/bomb/satellites than by Ultra advance and expensive planes

How many times are you going to repeat this line?

Tell me why.

You should be the one that tells us why?

The chinese probably have a counter measure for it or will develop one easily.

No, they don't. And they can't.

Heck, they can't launch a copy of a 1950 Soviet sattelite without help... and they screw that up.

Socialists are funny because they are STUPID.

And they lose face by failing. Over and over... again.

Other systems can insure air dominance. The f-22 is just an 235 million dollar pork barrel that will get blown up as soon as it can be used.

Okay, the F-22 is already being readied for full production and distribution to squadrons. It's coming, and soon.

The F-35 is nowhere NEAR that level of completion, and it has proven itself to be too heavy to carry a useful load of weapons and fuel. All the services want to back out of that one, and word has it that it's DOA, probably for official cancellation next year.

F35 is/will be a pig compared to the 22 in the performance catergory. We will need a 10 to one kill ratio to survive the war with China. A plane that underperforms won't get it done.

While I believe that the F-22 is already badly obsolete compared to what the US aerospace industry is capable of, I cannot disagree with you that the US needs an upgrade to the F-15 for the inevitable conflict with China.

Tell me why and how.... Shouldn't fighters be a part of the overall air dominance?

Are you proposing to do away with all fighters? The F-22 has been scaled back in targeted production runs hasn't it?

I'm trying to learn thus I don't have any bonafides in this area....... However I asked about yours and they are?.......

Is there a hole in our gps coverage somewhere? We don't have enough spares in orbit???

Because you're making blanket statements with no bona fides established to prove why we should take your word for anything, have introduced no evidence to back yourself up, and have made statements indicating a total lack of knowledge of the subject.

You're trolling, and quite poorly.

Missiles/radar/satellite webs can easily do whatever the f-22 does for a fraction of the price.

Are you sure about carrier deployment? It would seem very strange if there wasn't a naval variant.

It can not be carrier deployed, the f-35 will replace the f-18 in carriers.

US Air Force air dominance relies on a DOCTRINE. Not a weapons platform. B-52, Warthog, F-16.... doesn't matter. We've got a DOCTRINE that works.

Communists can't. It's impossible.

And we do it with brand new aircraft and 50 year old aircraft.... Show me one Backfire Bomber doing yoeman's work today...
