Yes. This type of aircraft has no place in the modern battlefield and Foreseeable conflicts. The money could be put into more usefull sistems (each unit cost about $235 million for 239 planes) Whats your opinion?
You agree with a guy that writes:
"We've had UFO platforms for decades that could wholesale outperform it in a list of ways"?
Yep, you're a DU'er.
For those who don't know, Quix is FR's resident alien abductee.
He wants to WIN! AGAIN!
Do you find it a problem that Americans are happy (again, finally) with winning?

F-4 yes. F-104 no.
The F22 and F35/JSF are complimentary. F22 is primarily AtoA while the F35 is primarily AtoG.
Zeppelins are cool.
I think Haru bailed out but couldn't read the D-ring.
Thank you!
No, it is NOT an F-15 variant. The F-18 is a completely different aircraft. The latest version, the F-18E/F, is only a few years old. The "C" model is one of the best dogfighters in the world, too, and it's fairly new as well. It would've been nice to replace the F-14, but sadly, it wasn't possible for a wide range of reasons. Stay tuned.
"Are these Russian planes not better than the f15-f18???"
Not with a U.S.-traine pilot at the stick, no.
The F-16 will continue to serve, as well, and is a savage fighter in its own right.
Recall, that in the past 35 years, NO American fighter has lost an engagement. Not one. A big part of our doctrine is WE WIN, always. We always have the best toys and the best-trained crews, too.
The F-22 will still have the F-16, -18, and -15 with it, and an outside chance of the F-35, although I still won't bet the rent on that one.
Please post your source of information that was used in forming your belief and/or opinion.
At least one well placed general has said a couple of interesting things.
The most incredible:
1) If you can imagine it, we can do it.
and
2) We have technologies at least 50 years ahead of everyone else.
The F22 is NOT 50 years ahead of everyone else.
Put down the bottle, tinfoil-boy.
We have arrived at a truth. America will continue with it's aircraft development, and China will have to spend Billions to catch up. And probably still fall behind.
And still have the psycho in North Korea with nukes to worry about.
I'm glad he's not in my back yard...

Probably depends on what goodies China has secretly been cooking up for a number of decades.
God help us if the F22 is going to help us 'over the horizon.'
Here is a letter to the editor (PittsPostGaz) in response to an earlier letter suggesting the DoD kill the F22:
Airmen know this fighter is key to defeating these threats
In reference to Jack Kelly's July 13 article ("Is New Military Fighter Jet Already Out Of Date?"), we need fair and open debate on the F/A-22. There has already been much discussion on what the future U.S. military should look like and what capabilities are needed to win future wars. The lives of Americans depend upon us getting this answer right.
Where the future of airpower is concerned, Kelly's piece misses the mark. Your readers were left to form their opinion on a revolutionary new air capability based on the input of two retired Army officers and a retired Air Force colonel without even asking the true experts working on the F/A-22 program, the U.S. Air Force.
Airmen will tell you current and future air-to-air and surface-to-air threats are real and the F/A-22 is the key to defeating them. Its "kick down the door" capability allows us to strike deep and fast, day or night, and paves the way for friendly air, ground, and naval forces to operate on our terms, not the enemy's. The F/A-22 flies faster, has a greater range than any potential adversary, can outmaneuver any opponent, and gathers and distributes intelligence from the battlefield. It is easier to maintain and, because of its technology, it will enjoy a longer operational lifespan. These capabilities will enable us to take the fight to any enemy, even terrorists, no matter where they are located -- all points your readers need to know.
While I want fair debate on the F/A-22, I don't want a fair fight when it comes to war. I believe we should win 100-0, not 50-49. I think your readers will agree our airmen, soldiers, sailors and Marines deserve no less.

The F22 is NOT 50 years ahead of everyone else.
Keeping in mind that there was an 8 year lull in military procurement in the 90's, your statement is accurate.
The F-22s are just glitches in the matrix... much like you.
