We're waiting on the edge of our seats down here as well. Perhaps there is hope for the Pacific Northwest. But, I have my doubts. Both states seem intent on replicating feudalism.

Was King County allowed to selectively count rejected ballots per court order as was reported previously?

We will soon know if Gregoire managed to steal it.

If so, it didn't take them as long as they thought it would. I have an empty feeling in my gut about this one, hope I'm wrong.

waiting, waiting. But King County results are not the only ones left to count, are they? Aren't some more moderate counties still out?

By the way, folks: as much as it pains me to say it, it appears the recount in King was on the up-and-up.

On Election Day, Gregoire won 505,243 out of 876,168 votes cast in King County, or 57.66%.

Of the additional ballots tallied during the recount, Gregoire won 593 out of 1,053, or 56.31%.

Gregoire actually did slightly worse among recounted ballots than she did on Election Day. Seems like everything was legit.

12:48 PST OLYMPIA, Wash. (AP) -- Republican Dino Rossi came out ahead of Democrat Christine Gregoire on Wednesday in the recount for Washington governor, but Democrats are expected to demand yet another recount.

The King county people have manually handled enough ballots during the "enhancement" process [a process blocked in the courts in San Diego] to know if they can overcome a minor lead through a hand count.

I don't think Rossi will be able to survive a hand recount with anything less than a lead of several hundred votes.
