The rest is diplomatese claptrap. The only thing its good for is to allow people to twist it around to save face, kind of like you're doing with your untenable fantasy that the U.S. administration didn't do what it did. That's what diplomatese is for, and I can speak it quite well. LOL

The election results have been rejected and a resolution is being negotiated (almost certainly new elections, the only true question is when and how). That's all that matters.

We can't let Ukraine slip in to PUTINs arms, remember Cuba missiles? To avoid that in the future we need to support poeple who are sick and tired of old commy pricks rigging thier elections like it's 1979 again.

Ehh? Why then do you want Ukraine as part of the EU, which has stated flatly that is what it plans for Ukraine. Or do you have a fond place for non-elected anti-american socialist super states ruled by Franco-Germanic bureaucrats?

"They've got nukes. Lots of them."

That is the bottom line we can't afford to forget about it either.

I don't think anything is preventing Russia from rolling to the Atlantic except for the sorry state of their armed forces and their equipment. Everything would break down on the way.

Joe, I hate to break it to you like this.... but Russia does not care a whit what you or I think, man.

: They do what they feel is in their best interest. See, we can fuss and fume here like crazy people and get all mad at each other about it... but Russia is for Russia.

The best we can do is hope those folks over there get it straigtened out before folks start fighting and killing each other.

That stuff in the Balkans was BAD! Real bad on all sides. BAD!

Poland is part of the EU too, but they do not bow the knee to France and Germany. Ukraine in the EU would be much more like Poland. They have already lived under a socialist/ secular govt (just like Poland) and don't want to go there again.

This is scaring me - a friend's brother and family live there. I hope there isn't retaliation against Americans....

The feeling is mutual. I do not care what Russia wants. I am for America.

So you think the U.S. will take up arms against Russia? This bluster is for naught and you probably realize it.

Bush supported the Taliban over Russia to, even gave them $42 million in the Spring of 2001. Klinton, with the UN, France and Germany, stopped Putin from bombing the Taliban in 2000. What's your point again?

We're looking for a way to make sure that the will of the Ukrainian people is respected and when we get an outcome that will truly reflect the desires of the Iranian* people for who their next leader should be.

Boy, that was Freudian, wasn't it?

in that part of the world it is always a tall order to determine this

A tall order when there's a lot of jamming. But the order hasn't changed much. Here's Wilmoore Kendall:

We are nearest to the core of the tradition when we touch upon those belies and commitments and notions of good and evil that (a) have perdured in recognizable form over the longest period of time, and (b) have proved themselves genuine by being consistently acted upon and, at the margin, fought for. And fought for, both against enemies from beyond the gates of our Civilization, whom by a long tradition and with strict accuracy we call barbarians, and now against enemies within the gates, whom by a long tradition we call heretics. We assume finally, that it is part of our business as carriers of Western Civilization to all a spade a spade--even if there are persons whose experience of Civilization is so limited that they do not know what a spade is, have never had any occasion to call a spade anything, and therefore disklike hearing the word used (as many today dislike such words as "tradition" and "orthodoxy" and "barabarian" and "heretic"--all of which, however, are indispensable for any discussion of the topics we have in hand). Even, I say, if there are such persons within earshot, and even if, regretfully, we must injure their sensibilities a little. We must assume these things because they are themselves part of the tradtion that they help to define-or, if you like, because they have been taught to us by our experience of Western Civilization, and because Western Civilization is our most sacred and most cherished inheritance.

Hey, why don't we just give Putin all of Europe while we're at it?? You seem to like Russia more than any European nation. Unbelievable.

You are so worried about Ukrainian soldiers leaving Iraq ? If US government won't react strongly about Ukrainian elections, soon Polish and all central European soldiers will leave Iraq.
