Oh wait, and we don't rig elections? Our State has spent tens of millions on this election, along with Soros' tens of millions. We didn't rig the election in Serbia? We didn't help break up Yugoslavia? Please, lets not be hypocritical about things. We interfer in other nations as much as they interfer in us and in each other.

The ignorance and lack of reasoning are a real shame.

That is exactly what I think here, so often, when I read the postings of paranoids and rabids, and of those who know nothing about Russia or Ukraine, have never been to either country, are not Russian or Ukrainian, don't speak the languages, and don't have a clue about the cultures.

But they sure do like to throw accusations of "commie" right and left.

It's very sad.

No doubt. At least the aftermath of the election will be cleaner.

"One is Putin's man and one is Soros'"

I didn't know that. I knew Putin is supporting Yanukovich, but I didn't know Soros is supporting Yushchenko. I thought Yushchenko is pro-West, so why would Soros support him?

So, even if your frivolous linkage is valid, we could either ultimately have a reformist, prosperous Ukraine in our orbit - and keep in mind the eastern European nations are extremely supportive of the U.S. and a counterweight to the western heavies - or we could have 1,700 mostly symbolic troops in relatively secured parts of Iraq. I'll take Ukraine over the 1,700 troops staying an extra 6 months or whatever you think would happen.

We can't let Ukraine slip in to PUTINs arms, remember Cuba missiles?
To avoid that in the future we need to support poeple who are sick and tired of old commy pricks rigging thier elections like it's 1979 again..

From recent wire reports:

----

The State Department confirmed Tuesday that it had summoned the Russian ambassador and discussed Ukraine. The Kremlin described the meeting as "unprecedented interference" in another country's affairs.

----

The United States is deeply concerned about how the election was conducted, spokeswoman Claire Buchan said Tuesday in Crawford, Texas, where President Bush is on a Thanksgiving holiday.

It certainly has been a very close election. But I think it's a far cry from "being concerned", to announcing that the US flatly rejects the election results.

"With ballots from all polling stations counted, Moscow-backed Prime Minister Viktor Yanukovich (photo) received 49.46 percent of the vote, compared to 46.61 percent for the West-leaning opposition leader Viktor Yushchenko, it said."

I thought Yushchenko is pro-West, so why would Soros support him?

Yuschenko is a puppet for both Soros and Brzezinski. They both wish to see Russia dissolved. This all goes back many, many years.

It's a long-held Soros pattern. Support free-marketers who will privatize state assets -- when they win Soros buys up those state assets on the cheap. He's done it all over eastern Europe.

Putin sends in Russian troops to Kiev and disguises them in Ukrainian uniforms and you're happy about it?

Were these the same ones everyone swore had carried off the Iraqi explosives? (Except that DoD showed that they had used them themselves, woops) Boy those guys get around.

The Soros owned opposition has promised as one of their first actions to remove the 1,700 troops in Iraq.

"I don't think so either, but I do think this provides the US (and much of the EU) with a common cause, "

Common cause, my foot! See my post 116.

Europe just wants to divide and conquer, creating a rift between the US and Russia.

"One is Putin's man and one is Soros'"
In this case Soros is supporting the right guy, proAmerican, proWest, proFreedom.

Putins guy Yanukovich is a mafia boss, 3 criminal cases, lots of years in jail, rape case..

LOL! The west is already confronting Russia in a meaningful way, so your whole premise is moot.

Putin's guy isn't just a rapist. He raped a child. But the Putin groupies ignore that fact.

"Yuschenko is a puppet for both Soros and Brzezinski. They both wish to see Russia dissolved. This all goes back many, many years."

Thanks for the info -- now it makes more sense. I guess reading in the papers that someone is "pro-West" is not any more believable, than anything else one reads.

We don't have nuclear missiles pointed at each other anymore. I read that a few years ago.
