Fury over new ketchup ad | |||||||||
By SUN ONLINE REPORTERANIMAL welfare chiefs today slammed a new telly advert featuring a guinea pig drinking tomato ketchup. The cheeky Heinz commercials show a caged pet downing sauce instead of water from a bottle. But the RSPCA says giving the animals too much ketchup can make them ill and the ads are sending out the wrong message. An RSPCA spokeswoman said: "Water is an essential part of a guinea "A small amount of ketchup as a treat now and again shouldn't do any harm as long as there is plenty of water available. "We recommend feeding guinea pigs a diet of hay and grass and good quality cereal mix." A Heinz spokesman said: "The advert is about exaggerating the fact that all foods taste better with Heinz Tomato Ketchup and in no way is Heinz encouraging families to copy the adverts." |
LOL! For once I actually feel sorry for them.
I think its just about time for us all to start over.
PETA retaliating for Kerry's goose-murdering stunt?
Does the RSPCA actually believe people will give their pets only ketchup because they saw this ad? Could the Brits (or anyone) be that stupid?
Some people are so lame. It sounds like a cute commercial.
What next.
Have you seen that commercial for " metamusal"? The one where the park ranger is give old Faithful a shot to keep it regular.
It was actually pulled because the park believed that it would encourage people to do just that. It is back on the air now with a disclaimer. Are people that stupid? Maybe and maybe not. But the bureaucrats running things seem convinced of it.

Damn thing drinks a gallon or more a week of water.Guess if I switched to tap water it would be dead in a week or so.
I would suggest that this is not a reflection of our British friends per se, but of Liberalism, which is based in large measure upon the arrogant, condescending notion that they are so very much smarter than everyone else, and that the heavy hand of Government Oversight is essential in order to prevent people from inserting limbs into running machinery, defending one's home and property with a quality firearm and, yes, feeding huge amounts of ketchup to your favorite pet. This is a universal hallmark of liberalism which knows no national boundary, only the love of power and control.
Issuing statements such as this makes the RSPCA folks think that they've done something worthwhile for the world and have therefore justified their salaries. If they didn't treat everyone as a feral two year old with brain damage, they would need to keep a bit more quiet, which would not help their funding.
Anti-Capitalist Guinea Swine
Fried Guinea Pig (Ayacucho-style)
1 guinea pig, de-haired, gutted, and cleaned
1/2 c. flour
1/4 - 1/2 t. ground cumin
salt and black pepper to taste
1/2 c. oil
Pat dry the skin of the guinea pig and rub in the cumin, salt, and pepper. Preheat oil. Dust the carcass with the flour and place it on its back in the oil, turning to cook both sides. Alternately, the guinea pig can be cut and fried in quarters.
Serve with boiled potato or boiled manioc root, and a salad of cut tomatoes and slivered onions bathed in lime juice and a bit of salt. Have cold beer on hand.

Proof that liberals have no sense of humor, and take themselves very seriously. Also a good indication that they are brain dead, but that is another thread...
Stoat:
Very insightful and well-written response. Mind if I quote you sometime?

Perhaps one could "steal" all the Heinz ketchup bottles and replace them with W Ketchup bottles. ;-)
Thank you, Stoat!
And thanks for the virtual Ale!
