I'll bet he is staying on 60 Minutes II for the following reasons:

---to repair his reputation and not call it quits until the Forged Doc scandal is forgotten.

---because he refuses to be pushed out - no matter how uncredible he is any longer. Since 60 Minutes wanted to get rid of 60 Minutes II because it taints their show - of course Dan Rather exerts his "power" to show them who runs the show at CBS.

He is laughable. Not to worry about ol Dan any longer.

Perhaps Registered can show us the Baghdad statue of Hussein being toppled, only with Dan Rather's face instead of Saddam's.

But note: Rather has merely been demoted, not fired. He's no longer the CBS News anchor, but he's still a 60 Minutes correspondent.

...And whatever happened to that "internal investigation" into those forged military documents?

Wow. Another reason to be thankful in this election year. The blessings just keep on coming. Behold the power of everyday people when united in a common good.

Rather isn't retiring, he's just stepping down to concentrate on becoming a hard news correspondent. All likelihood, he'll still be a thorn in alot of peoples sides.

Way to go Freepers! Way to go Buckhead! Way to go Howlin!

And Dandy Dan says it has nothing to do with the forgeries? What a liar.

He thinks he is saving face by denying it had anything to do with the phony docs. Typical liberal liar in denial.

He ain't foolin' nobody.

Howlin, Rather announced over two years ago that he'd be retiring a short time after the 2004 election.
