LOS ANGELES -- Although he lived 2,300 years ago, Alexander the Great may have something to say about current American politics. If Bush manages to transform Iraq and Afghanistan into secure...... Stone says the U.S. president may earn the legacy of the ancient hero of "Alexander." "It's a grand scheme," Stone said. "If he pulled it off ... in 20 years, maybe he would be considered `Bush the Great.'"

I wonder since Stone portrays Alexander as bi-sexual if he thinks Bush is also.. Stone is a hack...

"Stone is also the guy that thinks Castro is great."

And who's responsible for egging on the JFK conspiracy nuts, IIRC.

Stone is not a hack. He's a very talented filmmaker. He may suck up to Castro, and some of his movies are bad, but his best work is very good and none of it is hack work.

I agree. There is no better propagandist alive than Stone. This movie could well be his Battleship Potemkin. Michael Moore could learn much from him.

Stone portrays Alexander as bi-sexual

Alexander WAS bi-sexual, so what's the problem?

Although he lived 2,300 years ago, Alexander the Great may have something to say about current American politics.

And...

If Bush manages to transform Iraq and Afghanistan into secure, democratic states; if he can negotiate with Iran to disband its nuclear weapons program and calm Islamic radicalism; if he continues to work peacefully with Russia, which has its own historic interests in the region ... Stone says the U.S. president may earn the legacy of the ancient hero of "Alexander."

I think that is pretty hard to prove... do you have pictures of him and his lover.. Oh wait Alexander lived back in b.c. times... Over 300 years before Jesus and you think you can tell that much about someone?

He's definitely a conspiracy theorist, but the term "hack" implies a lack of talent, and Stone doesn't lack talent. He wrote MIDNIGHT EXPRESS, a very good movie. PLATOON was a good movie. JFK was loony from an historical perspective, but bravura filmmaking.

JFK was a hack job that has been roundly debunked.

Talent for directing does not mean mean he can tell an inteligent story.

It seems the MSM is engaged in PR repair to distract from the fact the movie has an antiwar spin and delves into unsuportable homosexulity.

The reviews have been refering to the bizare aspects of the film. (fox new made reference to the two male/male kissing scenes) This will probably be Stone's "gay" film.
As if we don't avoid enough of that on network television.

Oliver Stone = hack

Too bad someone more talented and less political didn't create a worthy epic of Alexander's great conquests. I guess I'll have to wait another 30 years before someone else tries to make a worthy film of the greatest military leader of all time.

As for those people who are into Bible prophecy, do you think the leopard with four wings in Daniel was Alexander's conquest of the then known world?
