METEOR TOWNSHIP, Wis. The man suspected of shooting eight Wisconsin hunters methodically pursued his victims, authorities said today, noting that the bodies of four of the five who died were found relatively close together. Those killed were identified today as Robert Crotteau, 42; his 20-year-old son, Joey Crotteau; Al Laski, 43; Mark Roidt, 28; and Jessica Willers, 27. Some were shot more than once.
All five victims were from the Rice Lake area and were dead when officers arrived to the scene near the Town of Meteor in southwestern Sawyer County, investigators said. Authorities found two bodies near each other and the others were scattered over 100 yards.

Thanks for filling me in. yeah... I guess that I refuse to register for news papers. little pet peeve. Bugmenot is outside of my DNS at the moment..... but thanks again for filling me.
In michigan we all had red cloth on when hunting deer -----hard to hide with all red on your bod.
The poacher was a Hmong........no great suprise to any Wisconsin hunters......probably won't see too much about it in the media however.
The Hmong are not Vietnamese. Basicaly Laotian. Many fought on our side with the CIA "secret army" in Laos, and were evacuated when Vietnam fell. Many settled in Wisconsin and Minnesota (Dunno why -- not much like their homeland). Not as well educated as the Vietnamese, and a fair number have had severe or strange psychologial problems (e.g., unexplained "terror deaths" where the victim wakes up, screams, and falls dead). Though some would controvert this, they are, on average, fairly solid folks, but quite strange to us, especially the first generation.
They came over with the help of the Catholic and Protestant churches back in the 70s as "boat people". The churches said at that time basically we need to help these people as they are being persecuted and that they will fit in..blah blah blah. I remember very well that many Viet Nam vets were telling them to NOT let them in as they were trouble because of their ways. BTW..they must NOT to be confused with the Mountiannards (SP) who were extremely loyal and very good people.
Anyway, from the very moment they arrived all hell broke loose as they figure everything at hand is free for the taking and do not show the least little bit of respect for other peoples property. They are clicky and hang out in groups and will strike out in a second...at least at that time they acted that way. I remember them grabbing peoples dogs right the heck out of yards and killing them for supper that night. Cats the same. I also remember them coming onto looging jobs looking for mushrooms and such..they eat nearly everything.
"the shooter had the element of suprise and a SKS"
A scope on an SKS. Yes, he is a madman. : )
I was wondering why the other hunters didn`t fire back. A thirty round clip ( if installed )in a semi-auto at somewhat close range would be hard to escape.
Logging jobs...sheesh..
Also read about those strange waking deaths among Hmong men before.Really strange.
Too bad they've had a hard time assimilating into the US.They helped us a lot during Vietnam.
I have no other detail but I suspect that is what happened. all downed all at once
mostly wrong. he's Hmong, speaks perfect English and has live here over 20 years. He's been arrested before for taking way too many crappies over the fishing limit and has had numerous domestic dispute calls to his place, but the mrs. never pressed charges.
Great. The local Catholic church just imported a hundred of these types. What idiots.
No death penalty in WI, but they might let the perp out on bail. He'd have a long walk back to MN.
I have vietnamese friends, good folks.
This guy was "one off"
Yes, this is very tragic. I'm distantly related to the Crotteaus. My father's cousin is Robert's mother. She lost both a son and a grandson. I didn't know Robert or Joey, but I know Robert's mother a little bit. It's very shocking and sad, I believe Robert is survived by a wife and two children.
They mentioned one of them was a woman on the radio... #6 has died??
No language problem either. The shooter was a citizen and lived here for 20+ years. He has an assault record with the police though.
Whoa, pardner...
I know quite a few Hmong and find many to be terrific Americans. OTOH, I also know a lot of born-Americans that are little more than trash and don't deserve the freedoms that we have and have never done a lick to deserve or preserve it.
This guy, aside from wherever he came from, is a seriously sorry excuse and I hope he gets whatever Wisconsin can deliver. Even that will be too little.
6th is dead.
And the Hmong-man-murderer was from Laos originally.
In Tennessee, you must wear a minimum amount of flourescent orange clothing on both your front and back.
Here is someting I heard tonight on the radio (haven't been Freeping at all today so this may already be known) but the shooter whas carrying an SKS and had a 20 round mag in it. I don't know about Wisconsin, but most states have a 5 round limit for deer hunting. I am starting to think this guy wasn't hunting deer, but was laying in ambush for white men.
