EXELAND, Wis. - Five people are dead and three injured in a shooting incident that apparently began over a hunting dispute in western Wisconsin.
The confrontation began around noon in a rural area southwestern Sawyer County. Authorities said a hunting party returning to their deer shack reported seeing a hunter unknown to them occupying their tree stand. That led to a shooting.
One of the shooting victims used a walkie talkie to radio back to the deer shack for help. When the victim's hunting partners came to the scene, they were also shot.
Sawyer County was in a virtual lockdown as authorities searched for the gunman. One suspect was eventually taken into custody around 5:15 p.m.
The suspect's name has not been released.
Officials at Lakeview Medical Center in Rice Lake said they have treated at least three gunshot victims. They said one of the victims was transported to a hospital in Marshfield, WI. Another victim is in critical condition and is undergoing surgery. The third victim is in fair condition in the intensive care unit.
Okay, if we ban "automatic weapons" which in reality are semiautomatic, ban consumption of alcohol, prevent the production of SUV's, increase the numbers of "lawmakers" tenfold, and at the same time, funnel ALL hard earned income to the Government for our own good, then perhaps we can convince ourselves that in '08 Hillary will be the best option for the most powerful person to lead the free world.
Wow, as a Californian, I can't even imagine someone not knowing this!
Yep, used a big fat red crayon!!!!
; < )
See post #92 before you go hoping such things.
I hunted deer with an SKS-sister model, a Norinco, when I had one. A bit overpowered in some ways, but I hated skinnin' to pick out shot and I didn't have a shotgun anyway.
This guy was in a stationary tree stand--how did they miss him, assuming they did fire back!?!?
Hunters around here are very responsible, not a bunch of hillbilly yokels blasting away in some feud! The killer ambushed them, ok?! None of them deserved this and or your crap!
Especially when the Vietnamese in California are Republican - because of Commies.
This story is very creepy because my husband who hunts deer decided not to hunt this year for no particular reason. He had a crazy dream in the early a.m. hours today that while he was out in the woods hunting he had to hide under a pile of leaves because a crazy man was trying to shoot him. I had to nudge him awake because his irratic breathing woke me and worried me. When I nudged him awake he yelled. He said right when I nudged him he thought the man in his dream had found him. BTW I believe in dream premanitions, I personally have had many that came to fruition.
I don't think their Creator thinks of them in that manner.......
The SKS is more like a carbine. It is not a long range rifle. It can be good out to a couple of hundred yards. It uses a small cartridge and is good in the forest and in city combat. I know several guys who hunt deer with them. I use mine for target shooting.
A SKS is a rather unlikley gun as far as hunting goes.
I wonder if these halfwits realize that they're harming the 2nd Amendment?
"It is getting so they fight over even turf on state and fed as well as corporate areas. I quit deer hunting over ten years ago
becuase of this."
.......exactly, and the pressure is only going to get worse.....many guys spend more time hunting a place to hunt than hunting.......if a hunting spot is within an hour's drive from a population center it's probably going to be clubbed up.....if your club has it; be prepared to pay even more next year because a rival club is going to try and outbid you......as far a public hunting lands go that's a real invitation to get shot because you don't know who else is in the woods with you....
.....the pressure over recreational land use is not just with hunters either.....our farm is posted but is constantly being trespassed by hikers, mountain bikers, 4-wheelers [I hate those damn things] snow mobilers [even worse] and horse back riders......if you call the sheriff, trespass is a very
low on his priorities......and by the way if a land owner is aware of trespassers and does nothing about it, then if a trespasser gets hurt he can sue.
As a strong pro-lifer, I'd urge you to never identify yourself as such, when you so clearly are not......
"Laotian immigrant?" Just another noble visitor to our shores, seeking a better life for his family and doing the work that real Americans prefer not to do.
I can only hope that the ones killed were wicked!
Did you read any postings before writing this???
Crayola..........Why did I know that already ?:o)
Read the thread. Lots of people, myself included.
Don't fall prey to the 'assault rifle' b.s. They are just rifles. Their Russian heritage means that they are impressively resilient even when their owner is not big on maintenance. That's why I had one.
The Hmong in S.E. Asia are converting to Protestant Christianity at a rapid rate and that has disconcerted the Communists in Viet Nam and Laos to no end. Lots of old time persecution there because of their Christianization and because they were US allies in the war.
