"It is deeply troubling that Senator Frist could not find the time to sit down and discuss the Arlen Specter situation with national leaders and clergy from the pro-life/pro-family community. It clearly shows a profound lack of respect and understanding toward the very people who re-elected President Bush and gave the Republicans majorities in both the House and Senate," Mahoney stated.

Who appointed YOU and YOUR buddies the spokesman for all of those people?

I really wish some of these folks would get over themselves.

I know you meant to be sharp in your attack, but I think you have something here that is less obvious. The Senate leadership or the President cannot let themselves appear to be dictated to by individuals or groups. It would just throw fuel on the fire about how the religious right has taken over the country - which isn't true.

I consider myself part of the religious right, but I know good and well we were only a small part of a series of coalitions that got President Bush reelected. The NRA, VETS, etc. also were part of the group. So, for one coalition to demand their way just isn't going to fly. Plus, as you point out, who can claim to speak for the religious right; we are not a monelithic group.

I would prefer that Spector not be the chairman. However, if he can be made to tow the "party" line and not his own agenda, then let him chair. When he steps out of line, then we can really come down hard.

They are known as activists. They bothered to do this. And they have done much, much more than this. Fortunately for the babies, they won't be dismayed by your telling them to "get over themselves."

You'd be better off saving such animus for the liberal establishment leadership and not for the pro-life movement leadership. They speak for the vast majority of Republicans who are pro-life. Liberal RINO Arlen Specter doesn't deserve to sit in a GOP leadership position. And Bill Frist has no right to ignore a major GOP constituency.

Poohbah, no matter who in the pro-life movement it was, they wouldn't have sat down to talk to them.

The Sentors received thousands upon thousands of calls and IGNORED each and everyone.

The unanimous vote today says it all.

Yes, how dare mere constituents and citizens think they're entitled to having their concerns heard by their elected representatives.

"I really wish some of these folks would get over themselves."

Or maybe you'd prefer they just STFU??

This is the usual modus operandi and arrogance of the RINO-centrist party in action. Screw ya -- the election is OV-ER. Christians are their black-Democrats.

If Frist, Dubya and GOP are willing to kiss the collective pimpled @ss of Vincent Fox, the AARP, Tedddy Kennedy's NEA, and Bubba Clinton (nice of W to pay such great homage to a scum-bucket), then hell yeah -- they ought to respect the people who contributed mightily in getting NOT ONLY Dubya over the hump, but GOP Senators.

They are trying to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory. Some folks have a tough time actually winning something ...
