Kandahar (search) police chief Khan Mohammed said the attack occurred at 6 p.m. Sunday in Maivand district, 90 miles west of Kandahar city.
The exchange of gunfire killed four soldiers and a civilian, and the attackers left behind the body of one fighter as they drove away, police said. Security forces were pursuing them.

Canadian Press
December 18, 2004
ARTICLE SNIPPET: "BISMARCK, N.D. -- A man who locked himself in the bathroom of a commercial jet en route to Winnipeg was taken to hospital for mental evaluation after the plane was forced to land in North Dakota, police said.
The United Express flight from Denver landed in Bismarck at about 12:45 p.m. Friday.
The episode ended about 15 minutes later when authorities entered the washroom and removed the man, who had removed his clothes and was making incoherent noises, police Sgt. Steve Kenner said.
Authorities said the man, who was not identified, was in his late 20s or early 30s. He did not struggle with officers and no weapons were found. No injuries were reported."

"Pheasants found ill; 2,200 to die"
By The Associated Press
ARTICLE SNIPPET: "CENTRALIA Officials plan to exterminate all of the 2,200 pheasants at the Lewis County Game Farm because two of the birds were found to be carrying a contagious disease.
Game-farm manager Ron Anthill brought some birds with runny eyes to the Washington State University Extension office in Puyallup on Dec. 10.
The office confirmed the birds had mycoplasma gallisepticum, an illness that causes watering eyes, coughing or sneezing and can affect weight gain and reproduction.
The illness lasts for the bird's lifetime, cannot be fought with antibiotics and spreads to the entire flock. Offspring contract the disease in the egg stage, and it could spread to the wild-bird population."

Next, he'll be Brit Man or something.
I would not consider it credible.
We had a dusting here in south Jersey, just enough to make it look pretty.
Thank you for the ping, I hadn't heard anything about that.
Thanks, V, it was great!
