NBC cameraman an anti-war activist

Kevin Sites, the NBC cameraman who shot video of the controversial shooting of a Fallujah insurgent by a U.S. Marine, is an anti-war activist whose photographs of Iraqi prisoners are featured on at least one anti-war website.

Sites was embedded with the 3rd Battalion, 1st Marine Regiment in Fallujah when he shot the video of the Marine shooting an injured enemy fighter in a mosque. From the dialogue on the footage, it appeared the Marines were unsure if the insurgent was dead or faking death. Some fighters in Iraq have feigned death only to pull out a weapon or blow themselves up to kill Americans.

The U.S. military is investigating the incident to determine what happened and what, if any, punitive action should be taken against the Marine.

Sites was serving as a pool cameraman, giving access to the video to many networks.

Images Against War is one website where Sites' photography appears, giving two separate pages to his work. One of the pages, labeled "Kevin Sites 2," features photos of captured Iraqis with one caption saying detainees on a truck were enduring "a long ride into uncertainty." Most of the photos featured on the site engender sympathy toward U.S. enemy fighters and antipathy toward American military personnel.

Images Against War, which is based in Germany, has a comments page where posters have lashed out at Sites.

"The kindest things I can say about you is that you are a traitor and a terrorist sympathizer," writes one poster. "I would say I feel pity for you, but that would be a lie. All I feel for you is disgust. … Shame on you. I look forward to the day that the betrayal of this Marine haunts your every moment."

Dennis Karr posted: "Kevin Sites has to be the lowest of the low, a traitor for sure, only breathing right now because of our brave soldiers whom he surely hates."

Wrote yet another: "Good luck riding along with our troops now ... you're going to need it."

Sites also has his own blog. Here is part of his entry for Nov. 10, when he was accompanying Marines on their assault on Fallujah:

" The Marines I'm embedded with are nearly ebullient. This looks to be a cakewalk. One jokes they'll be sipping 'pina coladas by the Euphrates River by fifteen-hundred.'"

In his account, Sites describes dead Iraqis in detail and says the Marines are "operating with liberal rules of engagement."

His site includes a disclaimer explaining he is a freelance journalist on assignment for NBC, "but this site is a personal website not affiliated with or funded by NBC News."

Sites' bio says he was captured by Iraqi Fedayeen militia outside Tikrit while traveling with Kurdish fighters and spent four hours in captivity before being released.

That he is anti war is evident by his comments on his website. This guy needs to be out of there if he isn't already. They don't need to be there in the first place. This is a war, not a photo op.

Yup...it was easy for Rather to Blather on and on about the "smoking soldier", but when the rubber hits the road, Rather is strangely silent. And this is a guy who claims to have been a Marine, himself.
(He washed out of Marine Corp boot camp)

"American WithOut Legitimacy"...I like it too, FGS!

So the big 5 liberal media are targeting our troops.

I agree, Tonk. Communist radio here in this area (from the nearby college) has been calling for the adoption of international law, American submission to the Hague, and stringent punishment of the Marine. Interviews with university profs were broadcast in which the spectre of even greater "atrocities" was suggested. Talk of the dangerous work of expository journalists was hyped, as well.

They're out for blood.

Have we ever heard the MSM calling for mideastern or south east asian countries with islamic extremist groups to come under the jurisdiction of international law?

They are getting even because Kerry lost.

So the big 5 liberal media are targeting our troops.

The election is over, and Democrats don't have to pretend they like or even respect the troops any more. I don't see as much wrong with Sites's blog as some folks do, but he clearly has a low opinion of the soldiers and Marines in Iraq. That's probably true of most Dems and certainly true of most in the Democratic Party media.

I would think that, thanks to Sites, the risk level for the media embedded with the troops has gone through the roof.

The enemy considers the way our troops follow the laws and customs of honourable war to be a stupid weakness; indeed, he often uses treachery for the sheer joy of it, when operating openly might be more effective. For an example look up the name "Omar al-Khadr." The Sites types, Amnesty International, and the Canuckistan regime insisted that we let him go, after he murdered an American soldier and wounded others by faking death so that he could attack them from behind -- then the surviving Americans saved his life, treated his wounds, and sent him to Guantanamo. He's now boasting about killing Americans, and recruiting more terrorists for al-Qaeda.

Terror and treachery is the vision of the world that these people want to create. "These people" meaning both the Islamic terrorists and their media/Democratic fluffers like Sites.

Can anyone honestly say they're surprised to learn this?
Sorry, I can't.

When NBC first aired the matter, I smelled a rat.

...& I was right.

There was a thread posted here about Rather's "touching" portrayal of that pic.

I still hold to my statement posted on that thread: that it would take one THOUSAND such portrayals by him before I would think about changing my very LOW opinion of Blather. It'll never happen.

In his own words (blog) he keeps reminding himself that even if he is getting to "like" the marines he is embedded with, he must remember "He is not one of them". I guess that explain the long hair and civilian dress. Indeed...HE IS NOT ONE OF THEM...no honor.

"I know...once you thought you were wrong...but you were...mistaken!"

And that's the damned 1% mark against me.
Leave to FBD to ferret it out as if ya were using a dousing stick. {g}

Truth is I owe everything to 2 of the most astute, sharp fellas on this forum (pinged w/u to this post) when it comes to whatever 6th sense I may possess concerning the quisling mediots in this, our beloved nation, today.

We're talking about an acquaitancship going back 2 or 3 years where the 3 of us used to kibitz -- endlessly -- the lamestream's modus operandi every way from Sunday all in an effort to get a handle on the scoundrels & separate the wheat from the chaff.

Of course these days whatever 6th sense we have is obsolete, don't need it.
1.those sense is all one needs to spot the seditious SOBs and their motive.
The rule of thumb today being since believe nothing outa their lying Godless Liberal-Sociialist agenda driven mouths.
Period.

Follow that method?

...& ya can't possibly go wrong. ;^)
