They weren't exactly po' back in '72 or whenever when George and Ouizy moved in next door to Archie Bunker to be a perpetual thorn in his side. The Jeffersons was not really a "black" comedy so much as a "nouveau riche" comedy which is probably why it became as big a hit as the show it spun off from.

Isn't it great to hear them bloviate and know it doesn't matter because the election is over and we won? If they DARE to try to "bork" that sweet lady they'll wish they'd never entered public service.

For the record I think Dr. Condoleeza Rice is going to make a SPLENDID Secretary of State. I think she was born for this position at this time in our history.

"Uh....shouldn't that be: DR. Rice? (vs. "Condi" Rice?) -- Rush's sentiment...and mine too!"

In most places -- and most certainly in the media (AP style, which is followed by ALL media) -- "Dr." is not used unless the person is a medical doctor. I'm sure Rush is quite aware of this but has decided not to tell his audience. There's nothing racist, leftist, or denigrating about it.

I work for a university and we don't use "Dr." for anybody but the veterinarians in our publications. Not even the president (notice the lower case "p"). In fact, most people, including most of the Ph.D.s, think that the people who insist on the title are generally insufferable snobs.

It's paraphrasing "Gone With The Wind", where the young slave girl, whose name escapes me,plaintively says, "I dunno nuttin' 'bout birthin' babies, Mz. Scarlett."

I believe the character's name was Prissy... she was played, I think, by Butterfly McQueen.

Noooooooooooooo. Rush was not being racist. I was being sarcastic. If anybody insists there's no such thing as left-wing bias in the media and then says, "Okay, give me one example of left-wing media bias," hit them right over the head with this one. Just when you thought the Left couldn't be any more offensive and hateful, they find a new low.

Hope this clears things up.

Janeane Garofolo on Air America referred to Condi as a "House Negro," but that was several months ago, I think during the Dem or Repub convention.

I was rather aghast at that and posted my feelings at the DU website. Of course the DU "inteligentsia" begged to differ on the matter of racsim. It was entirely justified, true, accurate, not racist, etc.

God those guys are predictably lame....

>You're right, but that doesn't totally explain why Colin Powell did not elicit this hysterical reaction from the left.>>

They WERE hysterical about Powell. They called him an Uncle Tom, a house n*****, and many other choice words.

I remember the racist vitriol spewed every which way during Justice Thomas's confirmation hearings.

What I cannot recall is who referred to Dr. Rice as "CongoLisa" during her confirmation. My husband and I were just discussing this last night but we don't remember who said it.

Ring any bells, folks?

"What do you expect? She is the left's worst nightmare come to life."

Do you think W is positioning her for a Presidential run against the "Bitch"?

Rush was ranting about that one. There is NO way to spin it as ANYTHING but racist hate speech. NONE. Something has to be done about this, and the black community should be leading the way.

Brown sugar? What's racist about that?

It could be a reference to the song "Brown Sugar" which tells of a slave owner who takes sexual satisfaction from his slave girl. Or it could be a reference to the product, brown sugar, which is actually white sugar mixed with molasses (in other words, white on the inside but made to appear brown.) Get the idea?

While we're on the subject, the Left has, once again, shown its true face. The mask is really off. I don't ever want to hear them again try to make hay on some imagined "racial slur" made by a Conservative. If they do, I have a one-word reply:

Oliphant.

Rice received a BA in political science from the University of Denver at age 19.

How many of Dr. Rice's critics got a BA at age 19, do you think?

I don't remember seeing any "Uncle Tom" comments about Colin Powell.. wonder if that OUTS Powell as an democrat operative or dupe.. birds of a feather stick together.. i.e. birds not of "the feather" are attacked with venom, ALWAYS... a coin has two sides..

Being attacked is a "feather" in Condi's cap in my book..
Seems the demos like Specter too, so much that they even VOTE FOR HIM...
