FUNDRAISER:LAWSUIT: FREEPER SUED FOR ELECTION 2000 FREEP OF LIEBERMAN EVENT

Edited on 11/15/2004 11:12:31 PM PST by Admin Moderator. [history]

I am being sued for something that happened at the December 2000 Freep of Joe Lieberman.

JimRob has allowed me to hold an internet fundraiser to help defray the costs of my lawyers fees.

I am broke and thousands of dollars in debt, and depending on how much I can collect here, I amnot sure if I can continue or work to sign a mutual release if offered.

Right now, we have ended the discovery phase, and are awaiting the deposition of the man who accused me of assaulting him that day.

That charge is a lie.

The following story below is my short account of what happened that day.

If you have homeowners insurance, submit the claim to them - it may cover it. Submit it to every insurance provider you have. If they say no you are in no worse of a position than your are now, and one of them may cover it.

FREEPER IN TROUBLE ALERT!

If you can't help out financially, send up some prayers.

There seems to be a few questions about these kinds of financial gifts being non-taxable, Tax-chick. Any advice?

If this suit is successful, we're all in line for the same. The DNC will jump on this gladly.

Exactly right. They can't be allowed to win even one.

$25 on the way, Race! (Hopefully more later.) And prayers up fer ya, Big Guy.

In general, small gifts are not taxable to the recipient, nor deductible by the donor. Consult a more up-to-date tax professional for comprehensive advice :-) ... I think DUDLEY is one.

I typed the original message too quickly, and reversed the terms -- sorry 'bout that...the NG mkt was hopping and I should have paid closer attention.

The only tax event here, according to both my CPA and my attorney, is that the value of the gift exceeded the federal gift tax ceiling per annum.

As I understand things, the IRS is still on the rampage. The IRS is or at least was at one time taking the position that the giftees ''earned'' the income by attending the programme and winning a ''prize'', a la the lottery, which position strikes me as positively ludricrous. The cars were clearly an outright gift, not a lottery winning -- after all, everyone in attendance ''won'', which of course never has occurred in any lottery in history.

That the several states involved are demanding sales tax (or use tax, depending) is its own separate outrage.

"If they say no you are in no worse of a position than your are now, and one of them may cover it."

Actually, you could be in a worse position. They can raise your premium JUST FOR ASKING, and might even bump you.

Sending my prayers, and a small donation. I'm afraid I can't afford much in the line of a donation.

Thanks for the ping. I think this will all work out for the best, in favor of RaceBannon.
