If not, we will not vote for you. We won't go running to vote for the Democrats: they're pro-abortion. We won't go out and form a third party: we're not stupid and know that won't work.

While I agree with your position on abortion 100%, I find it amazing that you think it is smarter to sit at home and not vote rather than cast a vote for third party candidate like Peroutka? I don't get it, and don't think God will either. Don't ever stop voting, if you do, then your voice will be meaningless in America. And yes, I proudly voted for Michael A. Peroutka!

[ We do not believe that there is any other issue on Earth that compares with abortion in moral import. ]

Thats exactly their problem.. Not that abortion is not important just its not ALL IMPORTANT.. This attitude will sink the very ship they are standing on.. More important than abortion is the morphing of America into a democracy.. solve that and the abortion issue can be solved. DON'T.. solve that problem and abortion and other equally heinous crimes will proliferate.. Federal power is sucking more than our babies down a rat hole.. its sucking our window of opportunity to do anything about those problems away..

One issue genious's will sink the ship with their blinders on.. Will somebody please any SHOOT any one issue genious's.. them folks'll get us.. copmpletely socialized..

Au contraire. I could list hundreds that take precedence.

Freedom, War on Islam, Supreme Court nominees, Size of government, Communism, lots of them.

You've got to draw a line somewhere, or masturbation is murder. I would agree partial birth abortion is murder. Abortion is wrong, but not illegal. These prolifers need to get off this issue or we don't have a majority. The first three months is a fine compromise.

I, too, am feeling the onset of betrayal. Cronyn says he has extracted assurances from Specter and will support him for chair. This is wrong.

I will be watching the appointments of judges. If I see liberals getting appointed, I will know the Republicans have caved. If Bush is afraid to appoint Pro-Life judges because Specter will block them and make Bush look bad, we will have been betrayed. The liberals will be getting their way even though the voting public did not give them that authority.

We need judges who will stand up for the Constitution and for common sense. If we don't get them, only the Republicans can be held to blame. They hold all the cards.

I personally will no longer support a party which talks a great fight but doesn't follow through. I will be watching judicial appointments closely. This is the litmus test for the Republican Party. It's time to put up or shut up.

I totally agree.

The time for talk about doing something about Roe V Wade is past. Now the Republicans and the President have it in their power to put pro-life judges on the SCOTUS.

If they don't, they will regret it dearly!

1. Abortion

The Church teaches that, regarding a law permitting abortions, it is "never licit to obey it, or to take part in a propaganda campaign in favor of such a law, or to vote for it" (EV 73). Abortion is the intentional and direct killing of an innocent human being, and therefore it is a form of homicide.

The unborn child is always an innocent party, and no law may permit the taking of his life. Even when a child is conceived through rape or incest, the fault is not the child's, who should not suffer death for others' sins.

The problem is, staying home does not help the cause either. That is just insuring that democrats will win and partial birth abortion will be the norm again. Getting Roe V Wade reversed will take a miracle, but I do believe in them. However, threatening to not vote seems the wrong method to me.

Another one-note nincompoop heard from?

Sorry to burst your bubble. Everyone knows my position on just above every issue. Nobody knows or should care what my religion is. I don't want to know yours.

I would oppose, with all my energy, any group who would invoke religion as an argument, or even as part of any argument; Exactly as I oppose the murdering SMs* now.

I don't believe we need or should appoint pro-life judges to the Supreme Court. All we have to do is appoint judges who are strict constructionists and they will throw out Roe V. Wade. Abortion is not a constitutional issue and needs to go back to the States where we pro lifers can win the battle and end this once and for all. If the Supreme court outlaws abortion it will continue the battle for years to come and unborn babies will once again be at the mercy of future Supreme Courts. If we want to make this a federal issue we need to amend the constitution.

Abortion is murder, pure and simple. It ought to be illegal, except under certain circumstances.

I cannot believe we trash Hitler, Pol Pot, Stalin, etc. etc. as mass murderers when, since Roe v. Wade, approximately 50 million innocent human beings have been slaughtered! And that is just in the USA!

Not bad, the cloture rule can and must be changed.

That's all it will take to get good judges on the bench.

I see the living constitutionalists are all over this thread telling pro-life voters not to leave the Republican Party.

Ironically, what is going to actually happen is that the Republican Party will leave the living constitutionalists.

One thing we seem to forget is that we all want judges that are good Conservative judges that believe in a strict literal interpretation of the Constitution.

We don't want judges that legislate from the bench.

This is how the liberals got Roe Vs Wade. This how we got homosexual marriage in Vermont. This why all those propositions the people in California pass get slapped down by the ultra liberal 9th circuit.

A good Conservative judge will recognize that all these are wrong. He will believe in the right to life granted in the Constitution.

A judge that believes that the right of life is paramount, believes that the second amendment is a right of the people, does not believe in legislating from the bench and is a strong believer in states rights. is what you call a good conservative judge.

If he does not believe in these things then he is not Conservative. This is why the Democrats use Roe V Wade as their basic litmus test.

If a nominee believes in abortion and will support Roe Vs Wade then they know he is not conservative, or at best one who will compromise on the other conservative principles such as the right to bear arms.

Those of us who support the right to life, the second amendment, who believe it is wrong for a few men in robes to impose their will and values on three hundred million others, are all looking for the same man to be on the bench.

There is a lot more than one issue at stake. We better stick together and makes our wishes known now.

Because our country, our children and our grandchildren are going to have to live with the results of what these people decide for the next 50 years.

I have been an active member of the pro life movement since the first time I became aware of it a good many years ago. I have joined more than a few marches to DC on Jan 22 and been impressed with the huge numbers of dedicated pro lifers who, at their own expense, make the trip each year. I am too modest (!) to detail more bona fides but suffice to say I am still ardently pro life. However---I am really steamed at your headline. I do not respond well to warnings, stampedes, intimidation, or threats of any nature whether delivered from the LEFT or the RIGHT. The very thought that an American citizen would not vote in an election for any reason is repellent to me. It is terrible enough that some Americans sell, and others buy, votes. Voting is a privilege and should not be considered as a reward or punishment for goods delivered or not. If pro lifers insist on a litmus test for judges, and pro abortionists insist on the same for their guys, there will be the usual stand off. President Bush will do the best he can to give us Supreme Court Justices who will abide by our constitution, without a litmus test either left or right. The Republican party is not responsible for RvW. They have to deal with what exists. Protest and speak out for what you stand for, but please, do not SHOUT threats at the rest of us.
