LOL! That would be really cute! Or maybe that 1000 dollar budget show on HGTV. ("How do you decorate a bedroom for the most powerful man in the world?")

What's that one where they clean up all your junk and make you have a huge garage sale? Clean Sweep! White House style.

That makes me wonder...do you think Dubya is a packrat or a neat freak? If his daughters are anything like me (hey, they're only a year older than me) then they're probably packrats. I can't bear throwing anything away.

He seems like he'd be a neat person. Maybe not a "freak," but leaning more toward the neat side than messy.

You asked, "Can anyone tell me the most updated vote tally for both President Bush and...what's-his-face?"

Last I saw was 60,724,666 to 57,290,370!!! as of this morning as shown here: http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/1278312/posts (Title: Pres. Bush now @ 60.725 Million Votes!! (10 million more than 2000!))

Yeehaw!

You think so? Hmmm...I was thinking he'd be more on the messy side. But I'm just guessing so who knows? Maybe I'll e-mail the White House and ask em :)

It seems to me, that most of the inside staircases might not have been installed yet, or finished at the end of the 18th century when J.Adams moved in. The whole mansion wasn't quite finished then, according to "John Adams" by David McCullough. Apparently the "East Room" was more like a large covered porch; and he had to go a small, twisted back stair, and walk upstairs to the upper floor!

Of course, there was no West Wing, or Oval Office then! But he did have a nice size office on the second floor, close to where he would have a bedroom. Also, the masonry and the paint were not dry yet, so they had to light fires in all the fireplaces on the first floor, to dry the walls! Also, I was amazed when he wrote a letter to Abigail; that gave the address as: "President's House, Washington City"!

Until I read this book, I didn't realize that the "White House" wasn't the name of the house! I also was surprised to see that they didn't always call the capitol city, "Washington, D.C."; they referred to it as "Washington City"!

Now I've been to the "White House" before, but it was nearly 40 years ago! I don't even remember the tour all that much, but some specific places. We did get a colorful guide-book on the WH at that time. We lived just outside Washigton, D.C., in New Carrollton, MD.(Prince George's County), so it wasn't too far away.

Me--**The people of Britain are very fortunate they have this man at this time -- regarding their national security, that is.**

snugs--National security I cannot argue with the rest well ....... but then I suppose if you are dead the rest does not matter.

Exactly, snugs. Here's hoping Britain will find another Churchill.

I've always wondered who sits on those comfy looking sofas (pic #4). The President and his guests are always pictured in those straight chairs. Give me a cushy sofa and a diet Coke. Of course, I haven't been invited to guest anywhere near the White House. I was just day dreaming.

Barney is certainly articulate and a true comedian as well. I'm impressed with his and his master's intelligence.

**President Bush and Prime Minister Blair both look very good, considering what they have both been through in the last few years. God bless them both.**

There is another difference between America and Britain that some may not realise even when you criticize your politicians you seem to give them some respect. I have notice that most of the time the title of President or in Blair's case Prime Minister is always given. This is not so in the UK most of the media may in passing say that Blair is the Prime Minister but then just refer to him as Tony Blair. There seems a different protocol maybe because they are the voted government and we reserve our respect etc for the Queen - thoughts. Having said that in the last few years there has been criticism of Royalty.

**A poodle is the essence of a pampered lap dog which is easily cowed; i.e. John Kerry. **

There is another take on this yes the toy and miniature poodle may give that appearance but the original standard poodle which is a large dog was bred for hunting in Germany. This is a brave and quite intimidating dog I know people who bred them for showing and I would not want to get the wrong side of any of those large dogs.

**The Brit reporters were very smarmy today. Pirahna's out for blood with that last question intended as nothing more than a "Gotcha!" moment. Tabloid and juvenile. **

I have heard The Times called a lot of things but a tabloid never - I like it well they do only publish it in compact format now so they will have to get used to people referring to it as a tabloid. You could have started a trend Prairie. Never read it myself I am more of a Daily Express or Daily Telegraph person which tend to be more Conservative papers, deep down most of the British Newspapers apart from the Mirror, Independant and Guarandian are really right wing they try to cover this up with socialist comments but really then have more right wing leanings than left.

Good morning snugs, (well, it's morning here anyway). Yes, I like the Telegraph as well, not familiar with the Daily Express. And USUALLY the Times articles are well done too. It was the question itself that was taboidish, IMO. Here the reporter has 2 of the most powerful men on the planet at a news conference and THIS is what he feels needs to be asked of them? As I stated on another thread, most 9 year olds could have done better.

Prairie
