I want to do a survey on how often everyone here is bullied on a regular basis. I was bullied through high school. Yet, when I got to college the things that were always considered "weird" about me (my taste in music, etc.) were suddenly considered cool. It has been 13-1/2 years since I left high school. I haven't dealt with a bully to this day. Maybe I should have stood up to those bullies years ago and beat the snot out of them, but I wouldn't have been allowed to do that in school. I would have gotten in trouble for self defense.

Yes, there are situations outside of school when a person may be bullied, but they have more options. It also helps to know that someone supports what you decide to do about it, rather than, "Just suck it up. It'll help build character."

I was bullied quite a bit in high school, mostly physical or verbal, but so was most of the students. Not much bullying in college, except for a few self-righteous professors in the verbal sense.

In the working world people try to bully you all the time but usually just in the verbal sense or the power play.

Bottom line is that being bullied in high school didn't teach me how to deal with it any better because all they told us to do was shut up and take it. And that just brings on more bullying.
