"I want to do a survey on how often everyone here is bullied on a regular basis. I was bullied through high school."
I was bullied quite a bit in high school, mostly physical or verbal, but so was most of the students. Not much bullying in college, except for a few self-righteous professors in the verbal sense.
In the working world people try to bully you all the time but usually just in the verbal sense or the power play.
Bottom line is that being bullied in high school didn't teach me how to deal with it any better because all they told us to do was shut up and take it. And that just brings on more bullying.
I found the best response to a bully is a well placed fist to his nose. I always put everything I had into the first swing and usually didn't need a second. Sometimes I got my tail kicked but most of the time I was respected afterward.
Now as an adult, I just look at them, shake my head and say "like your opinion counts for anything".
