Commenting directly to Mr. Head on his selection for this award, Tom Delay, the Majority Leader, wrote,
"As a respected business leader in Idaho and a key member of our Business Advisory Council, it is my pleasure to announce your selection as a 2004 Ronald Reagan Republican Gold Medal winner. As a Ronald Regean Gold Medal Winner, you distinguished yourself as a business leader who contributed to the economic health of your community. Your support of President Bushs tax cuts has the economy growing at record paces. Your willingness to share your insight and expertise, with the Republican leadership gave us the edge we needed to forge a true working partnership between business and government. This truly is our most prestigious award and one you richly deserve."Commenting on his selection for the award, Mr. Head himself indicated,
"This is not an award I either sought or expected, but it is one I accept with humility and honor. Ronald Reagan was, in my view and simply stated, the greatest American President of the 20th century, and one of the three greatest American presidents in history. Any honor or award presented to me in his memory and in memory of the ideals he exemplified is accepted with sincere gratitude, humility, and honor."
Mr. Head has worked as an engineer and manager for the last 26 years in the aircraft, power, and computer industries. He has operated his own consulting business in Southwest Idaho since 1999.
Mr. Head, who now works for the Federal Government helping secure regional infrastructure, has been involved in a number of civic activities over the last several years. In 2003, Mr. Head accepted a National Republican Committee Leadership Award based on his selection and work as an Honorary State Chairman to the Republican Bussiness Advisory Committee. In 2001, Mr. Head was selected as the 2001 Person of the Year for the FreeRepublic online forum, the largest and most influentioal conservative forum and activism site on the web. In the summer of 2001 Mr. Head was very involved in the Klamath Basin Water Crisis, working tirelessly for the farmers in the Klamath Basin of Oregon and California to face down the abject violation of those farmers' rights due to a faulty and political Endangered Species Act decision that year.
Over the last three years, Mr. Head has authored and self-published a best selling military techno-thriller series of novels called The Dragon's Fury Series. That complete series of novels is available in Trade Paperback form at Amazon, Barnes & Noble, Powell's, BAMM, and other places online.
I hope that makes it all the sweeter.
Learn to accept a complement, dufus. ;-)
Congrats Jeff!
Thank you. Now along with Mr. Reagan, that's two of the three greatest. If we stick within the GOP that would leave TR, Honest Abe, Dubya, or possibly as an outside shot, Reagan's hero, Calvin Coolidge. Did I come up with No. 3?
Sincere and humble thanks...there are many equally and more deserving than I of recognition as regards the legacy and principles embodied by Ronald Reagan.
