Store Owner Fires Back at Robbers (Texas)
WOAI (San Antonio) ^ | 11/10/2004

Two crooks with guns stormed into a west side grocery store Monday night, but they got a surprise when the store owner took justice into his own hands, pulling a gun on them.

The robbers hit the store on W. Navidad close to 10 p.m. Monday, police said.

“I was coming from the storage room carrying a case of beer, when two guys came in with a gun,” store owner Ernesto Trejo said.

Trejo emptied out his cash register. But he said the robbers then asked for even more money. They took about $150 and a box of cigarettes, but Trejo was determined to stop them.

“As soon as they left, I pulled out my gun,” Trejo said.

“The door was still open and I shot,” he said. Police believe Trejo hit at least one of the robbers. Trejo told police he did not get a good look at their faces because they were wearing red bandanas.

Even though he was robbed at gunpoint, Ernesto says he has mixed feelings about pulling the trigger.

“I hope I never have to do it again, but you have to defend yourself,” Trejo said.

“I need the money, Trejo said. “It's not right for them to come and get the money. They can work.”

Trejo says he is talking to his family about selling the convenience store.

Police have released a description of the suspects. Both are described as Hispanic males in their early to mid-20s. One suspect was wearing a long military jacket or sweater with dark baggy pants. The second suspect wore a dark, short-sleeved shirt.

They were last seen driving a green Chevy Cavalier.

I know what you mean. I really think Mexican influence on our culture might be good. Most of the US is so pussified, a culture that supports strong male values might be a good thing.

Legal immigrants I'm sure.

Nah! They're just robbing the convenience stores that decent, lawbreaking American crooks won't rob.

I tellya, everywhere has convenience stores knocked over, but I grew up some in Texas, and there, it seems worst than the national norm, much more dangerous and that's why the death penalty is carried out frequently in that state. I just don't get it.

So, if anyone wishes to answer my question; why does Texas have a very long term problem with this kind of violence?

Yeah, 'cuz all of the Hispanics in Texas are illegal.

Gosh, you reckon that committing one crime (illegal entry in the usa) makes them less likely to committ another? Dunno about Texas, but here in Gwinnett county GA on those rare occasions when the police get tired of running speed traps, get off their swaggering donut sucking a$$es, and actually arrest criminals, and those even rarer occiasions when the media is forced to acknowledge the race/origin of the criminals, Hispanic criminals are overwhelmingly in this country illegally. Of course, this simply may represent the same proportion of all hispanics who are in the country illegally here.

For a while this county had the honor of leading the country in home invasion robberies (Hispanic gang - arrested due to outstanding police work - that is to say a neighbor saw what was going on and phoned them. of course they got there late, but did manage to track down the criminals) 7 out of 8 arrested were illegal. The police in Gainsville managed to arrest 12 Hispanic gang bangers in Gainsville again all but one in the country illegally. But, like I said, this may reflect the unknown that somewhere between 7/8ths and 11/12ths of the hispanics in Gwinnett county are in the US illegally. wouldn't surprise me considering Bush's take on immigration.

OK. So, you think all Hispanics are illegals. Great. I'll have to tell my brother and two sisters (who are cops) that they are criminals.

Maybe you overgeneralized.

Most of the US is so pussified, a culture that supports strong male values might be a good thing.

Unfortunately, that culture's attitude toward women tends to be rather deplorable.

I lived in Snellville from '87-'91. A really great place with a small town feel, then. It's hard to believe the news coming out of South Gwinnett now.

I don't know if they are more frequent or just more violent. If the robber pulls a gun and the owner pulls one back (Texas culture) someones getting shot and if its the owner, the robber is going to the chair.

As an aside, nothing made me prouder than seeing the Korean shop owners on top of their buildings w/ rifles during the LA riots.

Well just for the record I think that the majority of the Hispanics in my area who are into crime are here illegally. You may live in lala land where they haven't turned the place into a replica of a Tiajuana slum, But that's the reality of what I see on a day to day basis.

Gwinnett county GA has gone from less than 2% hispanic ten years ago to approximately 50% now. The crime rate has soared; the taxes have gone up to pay for the endless demands for welare housing and health care; the county school board is the largest employer in the county (the school closest to me is 55% hispanic, and few of the kids and none of the parents were born in the USA; we lead the country in home invasion robberies. If one of them hits your car, you can forget about insurance because they don't have any. Mostly they take off, and if the lazy ass cops manage to catch them, by the time the trial rolls around they're long gone either to some other area or back to whatever third world pest hole they come from originally. You can't tell who they are, because most of them have phony ID. Drug trafficing is up about 600% over the last decade etc.

The fact of the matter is that a large fraction of the hispanics here are here illegally (Kind of makes you wonder why they hang out in the Home Depot parking lot looking for cash day jobs if they have legal residency doesn't it - well maybe it doesn't make you wonder, since you've got some sort of bs in your mind about legal vs illegal)

But who gives a crap legal or illegal they sh!t where they ate back south of the border and they're proceding to do the same thing here.
